I have a quick question about my memory and setup in terms of
overclocking..
I purchased Corsair PC3200 memory with the expectation that it can
run at 400mhz, but it seems to fail in this ambition (i get a memory
error in the bios, have to reboot the machine). When I when I try
to overclock the FSB to 400Mhz in the bios (anything over 167) I get
memory errors...
motherboard: A7N8X 2.0 (which should run at 400mhz ..)
cpu: AthlonXP 2600+ 333
SiSoftware Sandra reports my memory as the following (I have 2x512mb):
Memory Module 1 : Corsair CMX512-3200C2 512MB 16x(32Mx8) DDR-SDRAM
PC2700U-233-700 (CL2.5 up to 167MHz) (CL2 up to 167MHz)
Memory Module 2 : Corsair CMX512-3200C2 512MB 16x(32Mx8) DDR-SDRAM
PC2700U-233-700 (CL2.5 up to 167MHz) (CL2 up to 167MHz)
I don't understand why it says "PC2700" in there at the end, but
'3200' in the beginning. When I bought this memory it was listed as
PC3200. And it says it is limited to 167MHz, which also seems to be
the barrier to the BIOS when I try to overclock.. (i can't get it
higher than 333mhz fsb)
any ideas as to what my problem is?
SiSoft Sandra sucks. It ain't that accurate. I would say that your RAM is
rated CAS 2 to 166MHz and CAS2.5 to 200MHz. Do you have it set to CAS 2
perchance? Drop it to 2.5 and try it again.
