I bought the original drive from newegg, NOT Seagate. Under the

newegg is the one I bought it from and to whom I paid the money. By
the time things had played out (by the time of the third drive), I had
also decided that trying to get a refund from newegg would have been
too stressful. The third drive does work, so aside from the
aggravation involved dealing with the DOA drives, things have
reasonably settled down now.

You get used to that over time, what's good and bad. Dealing with the
right retailers, such as NewEgg, is though high among imperatives.
Dare I say I say a "good" credit card -- good while it lasts, as their
fraud and customer satisfaction departments can be typically better
than most when playing hardball.

And just don't buy used stuff, as NewEgg DOES & WILL back-charge you
for return shipping. Amazon doesn't, as and when stipulated, although
trashed merchandise is alive and well for a part of Amazonian
vocabulary.

I used to like buying leftover from people making mistakes. Not now
that its turned into a wholesale operation for businesses to unload
their trash onto some fool.

Disclaimer: I resemble that and upon rare occasion may indulge from
the ranks of used.
