Ok I have searched and searched the web and the groups with google.
Tried all the recommendations that I found.
Nothings works.

Soundcard is Xgamer
Windows ME

All other music files play only mp3 don't.

Checked the file associations, they are ok.

And believe me all the sound is turned on because all other type of
sound files play.

I need some new ideas here.

Problem solved. Evidently when I ripped these mp3s from cds that I ripped
them in the wrong format.
Redid them and now they play.
