Does clicking on the Speaker Icon show a Volume slider?

If Volume slider IS shown, then RIGHT-click the Speaker icon and click
'Open Sound settings'.

In 'Sound Settings' check that you have the correct Sound Output
selected (perhaps try each Output option in turn).
