Is PC Restore a destructive process (apps, data)?

Due to an ongoing problem with video, it's recommended that I go
through the PC Restore process to return to Dell's original
settings.

Will that lose all the app installations and data files?

How do I install XP on a new E1405 Vista laptop?

I like Vista on this new laptop and want to keep it. However,
certain important apps run only on XP.

The laptop has a 120GB drive. Can I install XP as well as Vista,
and if so, how?
