Intel Xeon Quad Core Processor

Is this one CPU that can do the work of four?

If so, for applications that are licensed per CPU - what happens
there? Uproar?

Thanks,

Corso

Some applications of that sort count one core as one CPU (Oracle); others
count one socket as one CPU (Windows.)

I think Oracle is at least partially coming around to the one
license/socket model. It's offering something like 1.5 licenses/socket
for multi-core CPUs.
