Having some hanging issues when doing something on disk

Recently started noticing that whenever I do something like create a new
file folder or sometimes even start a program, Windows 10 just hangs.
While looking at if anything is busy during this time, CPU utilization
seems normal and low, and disk activity is also normal and low. I can't
seem to find any reason for these hang ups. I can still do other stuff
while it's busy doing this. Is there somewhere in the Windows 10 event
viewer logs that I can look at to see what's going on? This machine used
to run Windows 7, and it now run Windows 10, and it never had these
issues under 7.

Have you looked at Shell Extensions ?

From an architectural point of view, File Explorer
is a rickety piece of crap. As it's so easy to
screw it up.

Start with a folder with 60,000 files in it.
Move half of them to another folder. The
source folder will develop the "busy cursor"
which seems to sit there forever. One of many
examples of "flaky pastry" software design.

I've seen this behavior (on a Linux, not Windows machine) when a disk
was flaking out. Whenever I'd do anything that involved an actual disk
access everything would stop for a few seconds; some log entries about
ATA resets would appear and everything would start running again.

Normal activity, unrelated to the activity that is hanging.

Yeah, I got Hard Disk Sentinel installed, and it reports no new problems
on any of these drives.

Run Win10 "Refresh". That should clean up any remaining problems.
