Keep printing from spinning down

I'm not sure what the term is but is is possible to extend the time a
printer is "ready"? Normally a printer will take 8 - 10 seconds to
warm up and print a document but once that document is printing it
goes very fast. At the end of the job the printer spins down or is
not "ready" anymore Is it possible to tweak a driver and keep that
printer in a "ready" state, or not spin down?

Can you tell us what type of printer it is (black laser, color laser,
inkjet, etc)?

The brand and model might also help.

If it is a laser, it may be going into a "sleep" or low wattage mode
which saves electricity and printer lifespan by shutting down the fuser
which is heated to melt the toner, and often the fan as well. Most of
the newer printers have very fast restarts from sleep modes.

You may be able to adjust the timing on these sleep modes to some extent
via the firmware or hardware, under something like "preferences".

Just out of interest, about how long does the printer take to get out of
sleep mode and back to running again (printing, I suppose)?
