CityLink Not Delivering
 

I bought some bits from Ebuyer, and I paid for their 'Standard Delivery'
which apparently takes about a week to deliver.

I was told that the delivery was today, so stayed in *all* day. I did not go
out once.
At about 5pm, I received an email from Ebuyer informing me that I had been
'Carded'.
Apparently, CityLink had arrived, knocked, waited, then shoved a card
through my door, telling me that they had called when I was out.

The thing is, they didn't call. They also didn't 'Card' me.
I have 2 dogs which bark whenever anyone approaches the front door - so even
if I'm asleep, the dogs wake me up.
The dogs barked at 9:30 when the Postman delivered mail. They haven't made a
peep since.

Citylink are really taking the pi** now, by lying to me, and to Ebuyer.
This is the 2nd consecutive time this has happened (with a different
vendor).

It may seem rather trivial, but I had a few things to do today, since I took
the day off work.
I could take the day off tomorrow as well - but who is to guarantee that
they will bother tomorrow?

Has anybody successfully reclaimed the (admittedly relatively small)
delivery charge from Ebuyer, for breach of terms?

it may be easier to collect from the depot.

****tylink are well known for ....ahem, "carding" people when in fact they
have not even been near the property concerned.

Reason? The driver simply has far too much to deliver. Therefore they
simply deliver buisness parcels first, then any residential parcels not
delivered are taken back to the depot, to try and deliver the next day.

How do I know?


I worked there for one day, and thought the outfit was such a shambles I
refused to work there again!

One blokey came in on the day I was there, and complained about the fact he
had been "carded" 3 days on the trot....he was in fact IN on those 3 days
that he was supposedly "out", and ended up collecting his packets himself,
along with a 15 mile round trip!!!

(I can only vouch for my local depot obviously).

Ask Ebuyer what the reported door colour was on the Citylink Mailtrack
email.

The drivers all have these little PDA things now and they have to enter a
door colour when they are carding a job to prove that they did, this is
transmitted straight back to the depot and appears on the email that Ebuyer
would have received.

Example of what I get on my mailtrack reports:
Door Description: WHITE
LOG: 4201752

I would estimate that of the approx 20 times that CityLink have had to
deliver an item to me, I have had to pick up the parcel about 7 times. I am
fed up with it, since it is a 10mile round trip. So that's about 70 miles I
have travelled to pick up items I have PAID to have delivered to me. This is
why I ENSURE I am in.
I'm not out in the sticks either, I am less than 1 mile from a large city
centre.

I just want something done about it. If I don't complain to the vendors,
they will never know that their couriers are lying to them. If enough people
complained, perhaps they would do something about it.

It make my blood boil.

Strange, I ship around 20-30 consignments a week using Citylink and have not
had a delivery fail more than twice in what has to be the last 2 years. From
my experience I would say you are very unlucky.

Yep, my local branch (Oxford) are terrific. I get half a dozen or so
deliveries a month, mostly from CCL or Aria, and their drivers are so
good that on occasions I have known them turn around, after carding my
address, and follow me back (having seen my car) in order to deliver.

Maybe it's a branch thing, but the Oxford branch are great.

Pretty standard practice for ****tyLink in my experience. They do
this to more than half the parcels addressed to me then make up some
bull**** excuse (van broke down, couldn't find house etc) for not
delivering.
