EVGA 7900GT KO SUPERCLOCKED Problems?

I was considering purchasing this card but the reviews on mwave.com say that
that there are known issues with this chipset/card, and EVGA has yet to
solve all of them. And that lots of owners are reporting problems with
either heat or issues with the video card memory.

But there is just this one review so I just thought I'd ask in here to see
if anyone else has had problems.

Yes, I recently bought an eVGA 7900GT KO (not Superclocked) and it
artifacts in 3DMark06 at the end of the Deep Freeze bench. If I downclock
it to stock 7900GT speed it passes that bench fine so I don't think there
is anything inherently wrong with Nvidias design. The resellers
overclcocked them at the factory without properly testing to see if they
could run at those speeds.

Same problems seem to occur on the 7600GT models, which are also factory
over-clocked.

After purchasing a EVGA 7900GT KO I started to read more into the card &
found their support forums with users mentioning all those problems. But
luckily after I got the card I didn't experience any of those problems & now
have it overclocked modestly to 550/1600. So if you go by the forums whether
you get a faulty card or not seems to be a crap shoot, but in reality it's
probably only a small percentage actually with bad cards since eVGA must
have sold alot these card because they were one of first to be discounted &
have a great reputaton for support.

Have you run 3DMark06 on it?

Mine runs fine.
7900 GT KO SC Evga
06 test.
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm06=332189
05 test
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm05=2062428

I torcher tested the card for 30 days to make sure it was not gona crap out.
so far it has been great no artifacts no heat problems. im using air cooling
so in the heat of summer I had to back my overclocking down to stock speeds.
this sys really don't need to be overclocked but its fun to see how much you
can get out of it.
now I read all the crap you did and what you didn't read is all the card
makers had the same problems with the 7900's
it was not just one company. the reason I go with evga is they have a 90
tradeup program and lifetime warranties. what other company has that?

You can get what ever card you want its your money, but I would not base my
decision on one review

Yep & I get a score of around 5000 this paired with a AMD 3800 X2 running at
default speed. Haven't seen the artifacting that's been mentioned with the
last test.

You're lucky then because if it passes 3DMark06 then you are good to go. I
would test it again in a couple of weeks or so as some fail at a later
date.
