Presario 800 HD upgrade???
Trying to replace 20 gig with 60gig but drive is not recognized.
Tried differ jumper setting but no go. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks Vince |
What system, what OS, what Bios & version? If it is an older system

3rd party add-in disk controller, such as Promise. MUCH cleaner than a free disk overlay solution available from most drive manufacturers. More expensive. .... only practical choices a 1. Obtain drive overlay software from the manufacturer of the new hard drive, if available. 2. Live with the original hard drive. 3. Obtain & install a 30GB drive, which is within the usual BIOS capacity limits (up to 32GB) for computers of this era. 4. Mount the 60GB drive in an external USB housing. Hpaq customarily does not issue BIOS upgrades to ovrcome hard drive capacity limitations... If it is a third party MB, you could check on that. Other than that
there are BIOS upgrades for some BIOS chips from third parties for a price. Baring that, Ben has covered all of the other options. BTW External USB housings are relatively cheap. If the flash isn't on the Compaq website, I'd never recommend trying it. Too
