firmware/drivers

I know that firmware controls cd drives. But then drivers control cd
drives.

My question is 'What is the difference between firware and drivers'?

Thanks

Firmware is the software within the drive that provides its functionality -
and stored in flash memory in the drive itself. Drivers are the means by
which the operating system communicates with that firmware and stored on the
PC.
