Starting new build .. mobo ?

Been a while .. I'm looking at Gigabyte and Asus .. and the prices
for a decent gaming mobo seem high. Why ? Is there a decent
mobo for a reasonable price ?

I bought my first Gigabyte, but at $50 I wished I'd stuck with a ton
of ASUS and MSI mbs I'd run over the years. Not that the same thing
could happen with any of them if it isn't fully checked out in time to
return it if issues arise. The Gigabtye has native DOS transfer
issues and never gets up to acceptable speeds right out of the box.
After three BIOS flashes and as many hard drives in it, there's only
so many ways of Gigabyte can hide behind that wall.

Just saying "gaming" doesn't really say what *you* need/want in a
motherboard.

What game(s) are you playing?

Solitaire for Windows 3.0 ran great on a 386SX-16 with 1 MEGAbyte of ram...

"Gaming" motherboards usually have everything including the kitchen sink
included plus about 20% of the price is added bling.

Decide what you *really* need for the game(s) you play and do some
research.
