Help Wanted: SATA PCI CARD

Just bought a new HDD which came with a serial connection. Wasn't expecting
this but anyway would this card
http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/produ...d19wcm9kdWN0X2
92ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=48670 solve the problem of not having a serial
motherboard? If so, would it plug into a black, white or brown PCI card slot
on my motherboard?

In addition to this card which cables would I need? If you can find them on
the same site as the card it would be extremely useful.

Many Thanks

Yes, that card would solve the problem of not having a Serial ATA controller
on the motherboard. It would plug into the white slots (called PCI) on your
motherboard, there should be 3, 5 or 6 of the slots, depending on the size
of the board. Usually there are 5 of them. The brown slot is an AGP slot,
intended for graphics cards.

I'd say additional cables would be:

============================

a) Serial ATA cables (thin, flat, 7-pin cables)

....and on eBuyer, they are he http://tinyurl.com/p3qx (note, the ones I
have picked have a right-angle, which is useful for plugging in on the HDD
side of the cable).

============================

b) 4-pin molex to Serial ATA power cables (most PSUs don't have the correct
power plugs for SATA HDDs)

....and on eBuyer, they are he http://tinyurl.com/p3s6

============================

That would be it!

@drian.
