EpsonSX205 not pulling paper through
 

I realise this might be a long shot, but I've been given an Epson SX205
all in one printer.

I am using it in Ubuntu and the printer is immediately recognised , so I
put in a few sheets of plain paper into the paper feed tray, and select
start on the printer. It then makes a noise and goes into the printing
mode as the cartridges move from side to side inside the printer case.

The problem is that although the first sheet of paper is pulled in for
the printing to begin, it, the paper, doesn't go in any further and
meanwhile the printing is going on to fresh air. After I did or pressed
the relevant buttons to do a self test, the paper is now pulled on one
side only and consequently causes a paper jam.
As the printer is a top load feeeder, I can only see so much.

coule be further into the short transport but probably not.
The only other possible cause is worn rollwers but this does not sound like
that.

started to make some noises, the paper was pushed inwards towards the

I had a go at trying to get it off, but after I took a couple of screws
of at the back, I saw what looked like 2 plastic clips which the top
part clips down to. I'll have another go tomorrow.

Thanks for the link to disassemble the sx205 printer, I will make a bit
of a project as I guess it will take some time, especially to find what
screws to take out after I have found them.

Well I have made a start on taking it apart using the pictures in the
guide, and I have come up against a stop.

On page 99, figure 4-8 of the pdf file, it shows the panel unit in
place, but then on page 100, figure 4-11, it shows the panel unit
clearly removed.

Here it says:
4.3.5 Upper Housing/Card Slot Cover
†
Parts/Components need to be removed in advance
Document Cover/ASF Cover/
Scanner Unit/Panel Unit But doesn't say or show how to remove it

I have removed all the screws except the one under the panel unit, so I
can't remove the upper housing.

Have I missed something?

guide, and I have come up against a stop.

I managed to get the upper housing up far enough to get my fingers in to
where the paper feed is, and then used a stiff piece of paper to feed it
in from the back and see how far it got.

Now then, it gets as far as what look like 6 black plastic rollers about
25mm long , where they are held in place by 3 white plastic stubby
fingers for want of a better description.

I can't get any paper in underneath the said rollers from the opposite
side, so that is where maybe the problem is.

Sounds like the uppert paper guide. Page 126. Is that what you can see?
They are usually under tension.
