"Closing out a CD"-How?

HI group.
I have been using InCD to copy some favorites and memos to a CD-RW from
my PC, to take with me to a friends PC, but it will not work! Her PC
freezes up in My Computer screen.
Reading here, I think that it may be(?) that I did not "close out the
CD"- I don't know how you do that.
Any help will be much appreciated.
Thanks
BN

sounds to me like her pc does not support udf reading - ie incd/direct cd
if the os is pre-win2000 and she does not have adaptec [roxio] udf reader
installed
iirc, that is a free dl from their website

Thanks for your replies.
Yes, I have been reading a lot about Nero problems here. This is the
software that I received with my CD driver.
Would you recommend "Roxio" or some other software rather then Nero? I
would be glad to try it, I'm not at all familiar with CD "burning". But
I would like to, at least, have something reliable to use for saving
files and favorites and pictures on.
Is there any free Roxio software around, or do I need to purchase?
Thanks again
BN

Here are what some users said about the Easy Coaster Creator:

-------------------------------------------------
I like the setup and it looks nice.
But so did a girl I went out with in High School.
But beyond looking nice she wasn't much good.

-------------------------------------------------------
and the beat goes on.... Roxio! Holy Crap App, Batman!

-------------------------------------------------
Gee, last time I used Easy CD my house collapsed,
my dog bit me, my wife shot me, then I drowned

------------------------------------------------------
Do yerself a favor. Avoid this junque like the plague.
Hell, you could burn better CDs yourself with a needle,
a cigarette lighter, and a magnifying glass.

What you need is not another software but learn how to use what you
have, Nero. If you want reliability, stay the hell away from cRoxio,
Easy Coaster Creator and DirectCD (Drag-to-Disc).

Here's a Mikey Richter (cRoxio Shill) ringing endorsement of DirectCD
(Drag-to-Disc):

Date: 8/19/02

I have used only DCD for packet writing,
have had no problems due to the software -
but too many due to the format itself

to bother with it any longer.
=====================

The above Mikey's statement is the first ever case in which a Shill is
rejecting the very product IT is shilling for.

With a Shill like this, cRoxio doesn't need any critics!

Why the F%^k are you using CDR's with UDF in the first place?

UDF and packet writing software were meant for CDRW to begin with.
===================

You are using the most fragile, least reliable
format known to CD recording; your results are not surprising.

Got time to pan InCD, but got no time to respond to this, Hit&Run?
Also, why you have not mentioned about 'Losing Data', Hit&Run?

Hi this is strange, anyone else get this? or can explain it
When I re-format a CDRW with Drag to Disk Full Format {EasyCD
6}, the space available after format drops by between 150 and
200 Mgs and I cannot get it back. A full format on a new CDRW
is OK. I have a LG 52x24x52x and use TDK or Packard Bell 10X
CDRW. This never happened with EasyCD 5.

The space you are losing is due to sectors found to be unreliable.
It's a good sign that the disc is developing errors and is ready
for the trash. You'll also find that formatting gets slower; it
takes time to retry verification and to mark the bad sectors.

If you insist on using fixed-length packets, you ask for that as
well as losing data.

Mmm, but if I format a brand new CDRW I get the full monty then if I
immediately re-format, quick or full, I loose 150Mg. Surly CDRW's
don't develop errors after 5 minutes?

Also from your statement "If you insist on using fixed-length
packets, you ask for that as well as losing data" are you suggesting
that the Drag and Drop part of Easy CD is unreliable and should not
be used ?

If so why does Easy Cd 6 have this software and say how easy it is
to use. Now I am very puzzled.

Why pussyfooting around, Mikey? The word to use is LETHAL. Isn't the
word 'LETHAL' no longer in your vocabulary, Hit&Run?

Combining the flaky UDF fixed-length packets with
the tendency of erasables (particularly HS) to forget
is LETHAL for archiving.

Why then aren't there big warnings in DirectCD and Drag-to-Disc, Mikey?

Do you want to experience Rockseo, the best "BURNING" software?

...and, I don't believe you even have to install rockseo products to have
problems. Anywhere in the house and the odor alone should have some sort
of detrimental effect on your pc! Now, that's trouble without much effort
at all. Just hand over your money! What could be easier???

If you want the ECDC 5.0 experience without shopping just take $100 out
and burn it. Then take a sledge to the old PC. Whala, you now have a
system that does everything a ECDC system does! What could be easier

You got that right, one thing EZCD 5.0 can burn is your money.
First the money to get EZCD then the coasters if cost you in blank
cd's.

I guess it is just that The Best Burning Software out today, if you
like burning you money.

We got it (for now!)
Roxio and Nero don't speak the same language! She had Roxio installed
and I have Nero on my PC.
I removed Roxio from her unit and installed Nero (InCD), including the
4.0 Easy read/write update from Neros site.
Now her PC can read *my* CDs, BUT, she can't read the CDs that she had
previously made, using Roxios software!!
What a bitch!
Well, thanks everyone for there help.

She doesn't need both EasyWrite Reader and InCD. Suggest uninstall
both, search for UdfReadr.vxd and delete it if found, and then reinstall
only InCD. Now see if InCD can read DirectCD discs.
