Are the i3-3240 and i7-3770k interchangeable?
 

A friend who tried to upgrade his machine with the 3770k and it did not
work, however the i3-3240 did?

What we can’t understand is that is both are 1155's and Ivy Bridge
processors why would they not be interchangeable?
