Linux-based Windows 12 Lite is '3x faster than Windows 10' and'immune from ransomware'

Windows 10 users have had a tough time of it lately, with
updates causing all manner of problems, as well as the search
function stopping working for many people.

If you’re thinking now might be the time to look into an
alternative operating system -- perhaps one based on Linux --
but you’re not quite ready to jump ship from Windows, then
Windows 12 Lite, discovered by a redditor at their local
computer fair, could be the OS you’re looking for.

According to the accompanying information, this operating system
promises seamless upgrades that won’t happen when you’re trying
to work, it’s immune from viruses and ransomware, and you can
run it alongside Windows 7 or 10.

It’s more than 3x faster than Windows 10, comes with a suite of
programs and you can add more than 80,000 titles via the
software manager. It’s ideal for gamers too.

There’s no license or activation key needed -- you own the
software -- and Microsoft doesn’t snoop on you either!

Sounds too good to be true? Well it might not surprise you to
hear that this isn’t an official Microsoft product, rather it’s
a version of Linux Lite 4.8 LTS with Windows 10 wallpaper and
flat icons, and all the above claims are ridiculous nonsense.

The official website looks like something out of the nineties,
which makes the line that says "You have all the tools now for
designing really good websites" even more entertaining.

Windows 12 Lite isn’t available to download from the website,
but you can buy it for £15 on DVD. You really shouldn’t though.

Nothing new to me. I'm running Linux Mint Cinnamon, and have a
customized set of icons, a desktop theme that makes the menu like
Windows, and window borders that are Windows ish. And yes, it's Linux
so I lack the ability to run real fancy windows programs since Wine is
so under developed. But most all the Windows programs I want are
runnable in Wine.

Hi Al,

I have run Wive for years. It stinks. I am lucky
if I can get it to run programs.

The main issue is the economic model of open source
programs. You give the code away and charge for
the consulting / improvements. Code Weavers run
Wine and WILL NOT fix ANYTHING you complain about
unless you put their staff on your payroll.

So, small guys without a ton of cash kicking
around, get ignored. I can barely feed myself,
let alone put four of them on my payroll.
So you are screwed.

A few years back a group of volunteers, called
Wine Staging, came in and fixed a ton of issues.
Things were looking up. Then Wine swallowed them
up. And we are back to the same issues re-occurring
that Staging fixed. And no we will fix them unless
you pay the ransom. To the little guy, Wine is a dead
project.

I am going to have to create my own repo of Wine RPMS
as I have had to downgrade due to a couple of nasty
issues they won't fix. The downgrade version will
not be available for very much longer.

The moral of the story is to be very, very careful
trusting Wine to keep working for you.

It should be obvious that a Linux distro that attempts to copy Windows
is a bad idea. It's a major red flag. Throw-in some ridiculous
claims like "ideal for gamers" (do they *really* claim that?) and it's
time to run away.

I thought that I read about another systemthat was being developed that was supposed to replace wine (wine should be call Muscatel).

Hi Chrisv,

Actually Linux, or rather Fedora Linux, is pretty much
tied with Windows for gaming now.

Take a look at

Fedora 31 | Features, Gaming, and New Daily Driver
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1P8oBlOTBho

See how easy it is to set up gaming and how extensive
the support is.

If it is ReactOS, oh boy! It is beyond terrible. Not
even Alpha code.

It has the look of Windows 98 too. I wonder if it smells musty when you load it onto your computer?
It's too bad the effort they have put into ReactOS wasn't put to better use, like linux. ReactOS am might be a hackers dream though. I doubt that intels want to learn it.
