dead laptop acer travelmate 8004LMi
 

Hello,
My travelmate 8004LMi is dead. Nothing special done. The power comes on
the motherboard but nothing at all lights or makes noise.
It seems that the power IC is one of the major issue. How can I
recognize this IC, to try to replace it.

Generally, nobody replaces components on the motherboard. They just replace
the motherboard as a complete unit. Also, what if your diagnosis is wrong?
Unless you are really good at working with surface mount components you may
kill the board while working on it, or possibly replace the wrong part.
