Compaq Armada 110s DVDROM trouble
 

Hi!

I have troubles with my Compaq Armada 110s Notebook.
2 months ago it started refusing CDROMS. Some CDs can be read some not.
But there is no visible pattern for me.
The drive refuses most CDs from all writable formats (CD-R. CD-RW), sizes
(74 oder 80 minutes) and sIngle or multisession Disks.
Even some original CDROMS are refused.
I cleaned everything. The lens with a cleaning CDROM. The CDs with cleaning
kits.

And the drive started making clacking sounds today.

I assume hardware failure. But I wanted to check if there is some
possibility of software ore firmware problem.

Searching the net brought no clues.
