'Fixation error' Liteon 522452

"David" wrote on 22 Jun 2003

Keep getting the following error message when burning discs.
'Session fixation error.'

Only just started happening. Have tried using different burn speeds.

At the end of the burn, the drive speeds up then slows down several
times, this is accompanied by a high pitched 'whine' and then the
tray doesn't eject.

All was working fine a few weeks ago, using the same discs, no
settings in the Nero software have been changed.

Any ideas how this can be solved please?

David

I also had an LG drive with the same characteristics. From my research on
the problem, here's what's happening - others may disagree or provide
more insight.

There is a predefined area on each CD the laser uses to determine write
speed and calibrate the laser. When the drive is failing, it can no
longer validate this information. Trying track-at-once instead of disk-
at-once can reduce the instance, but only temporarily. The cause is still
there. Hardware failing, drive must be replaced.

You'll likely also find that higher quality disc's may work better, but
again this is also temporary.

Good Luck!

Have you tried different media?

I was getting "Fixation errors" with Sony Media - switched to Fuji and
things have been fine since.
