RDRam by
Diane
I have a PC with an Asus P4-TE mobo. Right now I have 2 Rimms, each 256. My
manual shows that the board can handle 2 GB of memory.
The manual does not say that the memory must be added in pairs but I seem to
have read that and it sticks in the back of my mind. The manual also does
not tell me if...

Cheap system... (Abit NF7-M ?) by
keith
Does anyone have any experience with the subject motherboard, or the
Nvidia integrated video in general? I haven't looked at the low end of the
business for *years*, so am looking for some help.
History: A friend's computer (Celeron 600) fried its brains recently and
she needs a new system, but...

Intel Inside no more by

The new phrase is "Leap Ahead".
Inside Intel
http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/06_02/b3966001.htm
Eric Kim is proposing getting rid of the Pentium name, and getting rid
of the "Intel Inside" tagline, replaced with the "Leap Ahead".
The reason? Kim's plan, cooked up with new CEO...

4-way Opteron vs. Xeon-IBM X3 architecture by
Yousuf Khan
There was a lot of hay made about how a 4-way Xeon system with the IBM
X3 chipset beat out a similarly configured 4-way Opteron system from HP
(albeit with much greater cost, $1.83M vs. $0.48M). IBM ran the TPC-C
tests with 64-bit Windows and 64-bit DB2; HP did it with 64-bit Windows
and 64-bit...

Intel Shelton processor by
Yousuf Khan
http://arstechnica.com/news/posts/20040811-4091.html
http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=17790
Apparently it's based on a Celeron 90nm running at 1Ghz with no cache
(presumably no L2 cache rather than L1). I assume that this means that it's
a P4-based Celeron rather than some P-M-based Celeron....

Dell, gateway etc.. never choose AMD why? by
jdobb2001
AMD seems to offer more back for the buck but it seems that they never
offer desktops with AMD cpus. I seriously doubt people buy off the
shelf PC's based on CPU brand since DELL etc.. are now commodity
products and they choose on features and price not INTEL or AMD.
Selling PC's as 64bit in the...

Intel stalls intro of Wi-Fi chip by

According to this story:

Intel is delaying the introduction of a Wi-Fi chip inside its Centrino
chipset.
I thought Intel already had a Wi-Fi chip in the Centrino?
