Macrium backups. by Peter Jason
I backup regularly with the latest Macrium. I manually delete the old backup and replace it with the new. Can this be automated by just having the new backup rolling over the old? For a bigger HDD can I ask it to roll over the oldest backup while keeping the latest ones?

Got a graphicscard? Put it to work fighting the coronavirus by [email protected]
The big pictu If you’ve got some spare GPU horsepower now is the time to put it to good use; by simulating molecular dynamics you can contribute to a dataset that could help researchers find a cure to the coronavirus. The Pande Lab at Stanford University has been running distributed compute...

I have a wireless Logitech keyboard and mouse that works fine on one computer, using its USB receiver. I want to be able to use the same keyboard and mouse on a second PC nearby. Without having to move the USB receiver I find USB slots to be too fragile for frequent use. Some of mine have already...

New build by Philo
As long as most of us are ****-in I thought now would be a good time to build a new machine. I usually order from NewEgg Just checked and I see everything ships from China and to expect it in 8 days. Just curious , is anything really shipping from China right now?

Last on Earth by Norm Why[_2_]
Hi, I found the last 4GB Samsung DDR2 RAM, it was priced at USD 15,000. I went shopping for 2GB Samsung DDR2 RAM. Well priced, four RAM sticks were delivered. I only need two to increase total RAM to 12GB. I am one of 700,000 running [email protected] to solve Covid-19 coat protein problem. We are...

Getting there by Norm Why[_2_]
This is a continuation of an old thread: Paul suggested I try an Intel E4700 CPU. So far I have only acquired a couple of Intel E4800 CPU(s), TDP 65 W. I cannot feel heat emitted, like with Intel Q9650 CPU. With it, PC would try to boot 3 times then give up. Now it tries forever, but gives...

Use ExpressCard/54 slot to expand RAM on netbook? by [email protected]
Hi all. Perhaps this is not feasible, but I'd still like to know. So here goes... I bought a handy HP 2140 netbook. Its only drawback is that it's limited to 2GB RAM. I put a 256 GB SSD and installed ZRAM. It runs Linux Mint (Tricia) and it's not too bad... as long as I don't have too many...

KVM Anomaly by [email protected]
This has been driving me nuts. I cannot retain my desktop icon layouts. I have two PCs, one W10, one dual-boot W7 & W10. They are linked via a 2-port USB VGA KVM. I never have desktop arrangement-retention trouble on the first PC whether I use the KVM or not. I never do on the second either as...

My HP Deskjet 855C died tonight. by John C.
Tonight I tried to print a grayscale portrait of my late uncle and aunt on some nice, glossy photo paper. After waiting a long time for the job to finish (the XP drivers for the HP 855C really suck badly), I was astonished when the paper came out exactly as it went in... BLANK! This was after...
