I think the X1 PVR cards are coming in ?????? by
johns
Google this .... Provideo PV-986
It is interesting. First it is pci-e X1. Then it is a hybrid
both digital and analog TV receiver with S-video. I don't
know anything more than that, and can't find a retailer
at all. I imagine it could be a real pain regards PVR
software, but I see the linux...

psu fan spins as soon as power cord attached... by
dw
.... without pressing 'ON' switch.
PC wouldn't start this morning, so I assumed that my psu had blown and tried
another. The fan spins as soon as the power cord is attached. Tried 2 other
known working psu's with same result.
On each occasion had the 20-pin ATX cord attached and the 4-pin...

Protecting Computers from Hurricanes by
[email protected]
Hurricane season starts tomorrow so I thought I'd share this article
with everyone. It shows you good ways to protect your computer from the
wrath of a hurricane and explains why a computer is so useful after a
hurricane.

Switch between SATA drives? by
Terry Wilson
I have 2 SATA drives in my PC that I would like to alternately boot
from. I have XP / Ubuntu on one drive and would like to run Solaris
on the other.
I think all that's really needed is on/off switches
for the power cables, or maybe a some kind of DPDT switch.
Anyone know of any after market...

New PC build recommendations & help by
[email protected]
Well, I've decided it's time to get rid of my old system and finally
build a new one. (well..truthfully, I have come across a rare and
golden opportunity to spend some extra money without my wife having any
right to complain about it.)
I don't have the time unfortunately to stay in the 'new...

FROM: Marketing TO: Engineering New hardware driver by
Charlie Wilkes
Good work on the new driver. Just a few comments:
-- Taskbar icons. Our driver only installs 3 of them. Shouldn't
there be more? Our hardware is unique and exciting, and it should be
prominent on the desktop!
-- Registration. Remove "never remind me again" option. Registration
only takes a...

Missing files by
John Johnson
Mainly Im curious about this
I was working on some pages for my Website.
I finished and I copied and pasted one file to another directory. Then
I renamed the file and moved in back to the orginial directory so I
could have the same file, with two names.
I then openned up my FTP program to upload...

LCD Monitors - Totally lost by
Geoff
I hope this is the right groups for this, as I can't find a dedicated
group for monitors.
I'm looking at buying a 19" LCD monitor, but I can't find one that fits
what I want. These are my requirements...
1) I'm not a gamer so don't care about anything faster than 8ms. I would
like 8ms though for...

AMD 3000+ Correct Config? by
[email protected]
Hello,
I just bought a new AMD 3000+ Chip(Venice) and am thinking that it
needs to be tweaked I'm not into overclocking, but when I look at the
properties in windows it says it's 1.81 gHz. So, what do I need to
adjust to get that number higher? CPU Frequency(set at 200 now)? CPU
Multiplier...

Pavillion 8650 W98 with W2k loaded on top by
photorams65
Hi Everyone,
My system above with the orig w98 os would not come up, even with the
recovery cd's. I had originally planned to install W2k pro in the
future, but that got sped up yesterday. I did NOT format the drive
first, as I have data that I need to offload that is
"underneath" the new OS...

Athlon vs. Duron CPU by
Pdigmking
I'm using a Socket A motherboard with a top FSB of 266. My CPU was
running hot (112 F) for a few days and I got nervous about damaging it.
What's in there now is an Athlon 1ghz. So I start thinking maybe I
should have an extra CPU on hand in case the old one burns out or begins
to fail.
I start...
