Dual Layer DVD burner that runs in Millennium Edition? by John Corliss
Can anybody recommend one? What should I avoid? The problem I'm running into is that most of the DVD burners I see being sold require 2000/2003/XP and I'm running ME. Also, I have USB 1.1, so EIDE/ATAPI is the prefered interface in my case. TIA. -- Regards from John Corliss

hardwire ATX switch by Skeleton Man
Hi, What's the best method for hard wiring an ATX switch so the PC turns on after a power failure ? I tried like a low value capacitor (first ceramic, then electrolytic), but it didn't work (wouldn't turn on). The board doesn't have any BIOS options for auto-power on.. (it's a s370, so it's more...

SATA 2 by Nik Simms (Web Developer)
Has anyone bought, used a sata 2 drive? Are they any better than the sata 1 drives. I read an article that suggest they are not that much different in speed. -- Nik http://www.pc-gear.co.uk

Mac os X on intel PC by Nik Simms (Web Developer)
I've been following the development of the Mac os X on PC and the leakage of the source. Some people have said they have it up and running on a intel platform. I'm just wondering if anyone has done this and if so what hardware they have used? -- Nik http://www.pc-gear.co.uk

Strange case of screen corruption by Peter Carter
The problems I am experiencing are quite troubling. When booting my computer with a relatively good card (9800XT, FX5900, etc) the screen will get corrupted almost instantaneously (in the BIOS Screen). Sometimes if I'm lucky I can get to Windows, but it will soon become unusable. By Corrupted I...

Because the MSI model RX9550-TD128 Radeon 9550 ATI graphics card looks exactly like a Gigabyte GV-R955128D, except for the colors and heatsinks.

hard drive sustained speed too low by [email protected]
I'm running an AthlonXP on an MSI nForce2-based motherboard. I have two Maxtor 30GB harddrives, both 7200 rpms. I have DMA enabled in the BIOS, and Windows reports that both drives are using Ultra DMA 100. However, all the tests I've run (HDTach, Sandra, Nero Drivespeed, and the built in...

Power supply problem? by
My second pc in another room must have just switched itself off. I tried to switch it back on and it didn't power up at all. I unplugged it took the cover off and looked for any loose connections, pushing the cables in firmly as I went along. I plugged the machine back in and powered it up fine...

Mfr's policy re bad sectors in new HDD ? by [email protected]
A new 200GB Seagate PATA drive that I received yesterday was behaving suspiciously, so I ran a surface scan and sure enough, it had more than 100 bad sectors closely clumped together in one 50GB partition. I stopped the scan after some 6 hours while it was still finding more bad sectors. I live in...
