WinXp 2Ghz Slow at 1360x768 by [email protected]
Multi-windows web browing slows down the system at max resolution 1360 mode. I thought something wrong with computer. I changed back to SVGA 1024 mode, and the speed is back to normal without any hestitation. I guess there is no way to run max LED 1360 mode without upgrading the system.

X6800 running way to freaking hot? ftw? by Jiminy
Just built myself a new rig and I swear I put the heatsink on right, but my X6800 CPU is running at 90C idle (at an autothrottled 1.59GHZ) and shuts down in seconds if I up the speed. I must either have a bad heatsink or it's not on right, but I swear it seems to be set right. these CPUs must...

GA-790XTA-UD4 Fun by geoff
I ordered the MB, two sticks of DDR3 RAM, and an AMD Phenom II X4 965. I put it together using the case, HDDs, and DVD drives that I currently have. When I fired it up, I did not reinstall XP because I wanted to see what it would do. Surprisingly, XP came up and changed a lot of...

Soyo Dragon2 KT880 Motherboard, Socket A, W/ WinXP SP3: Will this recognize drives over 137 without any fuss? What about SATA drives if it has always had IDE (the board does have SATA, but it's never been used)... will the controllers/drivers and such be there if I just go to BIOS and tell it...

Z77 motherboard recommendations by Hench
Cpu will be a 3770K Looking for a motherboard recommendation that will allow memory oc'ing but in addition: has more than 2 sata 3.0 ports (preferrably 4) has headers for USB 3.0 on back and front. Was considering the Asus P8Z77-V or that class of motherboard. Nothing extreme or glamorous...

XP x64 and optical drives by hp
Is there a setting in windows Xp x64 that chooses to turn off the optical drives at any time?? I can boot my PC and have the use of the optical drives (CD, and DVD) but if I go away from the PC and return later, (usually after the PC has shut down the monitor (timed out)) the opticals might still...

General question video rendering: CPU, dual CPU, or GPU by K Ruck
I'm starting to look at systems for a possible upgrade in the next few months. One new thing I'll be doing is some video editing and rendering using Adobe Premier 6.5 (may upgrade to pro, not sure yet). Should I spend my money on the fastest CPU I can afford, a low-end dual CPU, or a high hend...

DVD Decoder by Howard
I just built a new system and have a new CD writer as well as a Pioneer A06 DVD read/write. They both came with Nero software, but each software set only recognizes the drive it came with so I ended up buying the new Nero 6 Ultra suite. The DVD drive also came with ULead software that has a DVD...

Do all Nforce2 Ultra400 boards only support 2 Dimms with DDR400/PC3200 RAM? by Nil Einne
Was planning to get a Abit NF7-S motherboard for my new system when I discovered it only supports (according to official specs) 2 stick if you're running at DDR400. Since I only have 2x256mb=512mb PC3200 RAM and may want to upgrade to 1024mb in the future, this is kind of dissapointing. Does anyone...

Vantec Power Supply by Paul Maskell
Hello, I'm in the early stages of choosing components for a new PC. First I've chosen a Vantec power supply because there're the ONLY make that I've seen with a AC outlet on the back of the PSU (which is very important to me). (The model I'm referring to is Vantec ION 400W ATX). My question is:-...

Thermaltake Xaser III case by P Hickey
Hey, I'm looking at the Thermaltake XaserIII V2000A for it's space and cooling efficiency. There's provision for up to 8 casefans. I'm just wondering how you're supposed to power them? ie will they be connected straight to the PSU on separate lines, or is there some way of connecting the actual...
