Scanning 35mm Slides by
MATT WILLIAMS
In the past Costco has been able to scan my slides and make prints and
enlargements for a very reasonable cost about three dollars for a 12X18.
They have a new processing machine which has done a great job on my Digital
Enlargements and my own medium format scans that I do on my old Epson 2450.
The...

Reinstalling Epson software - OneTouch button doesn't work any more by
Father Kodak
My system recently had a meltdown so I had to reload Windows XP and
all my apps.
I have an Epson 1200U scanner which has this convenient "One Touch"
button for starting a scan. It's great to make scans and copies.
When I re-installed the Epson software, the One Touch button no longer
works. ...

Russian firmware for scanners ? by
spf.ma
Hi,
It's not a joke : I'd like to know if there's some hacked firware for
the Coolscan V, allowing the use of a slide feeder.
I have a SF-200, but I don't want to buy a 5000 (too expensive); the V
looks very apealing, but isn't supposed to work with this item.
And 2nd hand 4000 are so expensive ...

Canon Canoscan Lide 30 and Laptop by
Lenny
I'm about to purchase the Canoscan Lide 30 for use on a laptop. However,
since this scanner gets its power from the USB port, I'm worried about
a) not enough power for the scanner through the laptop's USB port
b) the scanner draining the laptop battery
Should I get a scanner with an AC power...

hans j.
I don't know if i'm on the right group.
I've a scanjet 3300 with software precisionscan LT.
When i start Precisionscan LT it takes a lot of time to startup, about a
minute.
And the processor is al the time 100% busy.
In Paint Shop Pro the same, it takes a lot of time and it gives a message

Microtek i800 vs Epson V700 by
JGD
I just joined this site.
Microtek i800 vs Epson V700
Could I get the user/expert opinion on these two scanners, which would be better for scanning 35 mm slides, negatives, and prints from those?
Is there a better buy in this price range?

Canon CanoScan N1240U good enough image quality but too slow by
Peter Sale
My CanoScan N1240U scanner, set to "Color(Documents)" and 300dpi, takes 3.5 minutes (210 seconds) to scan one page of PC World Magazine (actually page 175 of the July 2004 issue). The resulting image quality, a PDF file, is just fine, but the time to scan this images is more than I care to wait. ...

When I initially installed an Epson Perfection 1660 scanner everything seemed to
work fine. The next day, however, the scanner no longer worked. I get errors
saying there is a problem with the TWAIN system. I've tried installing the
latest drivers. I've tried uninstalling everything and...

Using a Canon LIDE 20 with a Thinkpad T23 ? by
wylbur37
I have a Thinkpad T23 and am considering getting a Canon LIDE 20
scanner. This device does not have its own AC power cord and therefore
draws its power from the computer via the USB port it's plugged into.
Although I plan to be using this while the laptop computer is running
on the AC adapter (and...

Problem with Minolta Scan Elite 5400 using Vuescan by
Colin Ackerman
I have just paid for Vuescan to use with the 5400 scanner. I have just tried
to scan some mounted slides (using the mounted slide holder that came with
the scanner) and they have all scanned out of focus. If I scan unmounted
film using the unmounted film strip holder (supplied with the scanner)...

I've just started using my Minolta Dual Scan III.
Using the main Scan Utility, I've started scanning my 1000's of slides, 4 at
a time. The thing I've come across is that each time I go to scan a new
tray of 4, the software doesn't seam to remember that, yes, I want JPEG, and

UMAX Astra 610P: "Please unlock scanner" by

I have a huge problem that can't seem to be solved: I have a UMAX Astra 610P

(scan, preview...), the lamp barely moves and I get one of the following
messages: "Error 00000000h", or "Please unlock scanner". Thing is, my

Decent A3 scanner by
_dee[_3_]
I'm looking for a scanner for capturing music paper, which is larger
than 8-1/2" x 11". It seems that A3 is the next jump in size. I
don't really need color (though it would be a welcome addition if it
doesn't jack up the price too much).
I've used the Mustek A3 USB, but it's really flakey. Are...
