Hans
Hello,
We have a switch-environment. A few MDS-9509-switches, a lot MDS-9140.
We want to save and transfer the start/up config and logfiles
automatically. I read in the manual about the command scheduler and ftp
and so on.
However, in the company it is not allowed to use FTP or TFTP, but we

LVM vs Software RAID by
Wendell III
Hi everyone,
Quick question: Given that it is now possible to have software-based
RAID arrays which are able to be grown using mdadm on Linux, what
advantage, if any, does LVM actually provide?
And yes, I am aware that the filesystem does not grow with mdadm's
--grow command, but tools like...

RAID5 performance in modern servers? by
Benno
On a modern server system (mid-range HP server with HP Smart Array 640x
64-bit, 133MHz PCI-X controller and 15.000rpm drives) will the read
performance still increase with the number of drives used? Is there a
"sweet spot" of the number of drives to be used? Or do other factors
come in play on...

How much faster would SATA be by
Melamorie
Right now I have a 200 gig western digital as my main hard drive. It has an 8 mb buffer I think. And its IDE. The best I can find in my research is that the transfer rate for IDE is 16 Mbs. And that SATA is like 3 gigs a second. Is that right, or am I looking at the wrong things. And if this is so,...

that the DLO administrator has defined". But the docs does NOT mention
_how_ to create a pre-defined folder.
