Is AMD doing well again? by
Rich Billionaire
I built my current computer in the beginning of 2008.
I went to New Egg today and I was very impressed with their new Phenom
II cpus. They have pretty much every power feature you could want.
So have they restored their reputation with gamers?

By Charlie Demerjian: Friday, 02 May 2008, 5:05 PM
THIS SUMMER WE are going to see an large scale GPU war, something we

Athlon XP 3200+ Question by
Travis King
Is there a 333MHz version of the 3200+? I thought the 3200+ was just a
400MHz FSB processor. I am always seeing adds in the paper saying that it's
a computer that comes with an Athlon XP 3200+ with PC-2700 DDR memory...
Now if it only comes in a 400MHz FSB version, isn't that ripping off the
user...

AMD and Windows7 Virtualization of XP compatibility mode by
Al Dykes
Windows7 has an XP "compatibility box" included but I am told it
requires a specific flavor of virtualization and the Intel Atom 500
CPU series was named as being compatible.
Will AMD 64-bit chips run XP mode with Windows7?

Socket A & 754 Sempron caution. by
Wes Newell
I don't know if this is well known or not but AMD has used different
criteria in giving the Sempron line of cpu's its PR numbers. So don't
buy a Sempron 3100+ expecting it to be faster than an Athlon 64 3000+.
Because it's nowhere close to as fast. AMD ommitted a bunch of the
benchmarks used for...

Athlon XP/MP vs. Phenom by
Darren Garrison
I'm still running an ancient Athlon MP:
http://webpages.charter.net/garrison6328/currentcpu.jpg
I want to upgrade. I'm thinking about a Phenom 9100e, because I want the low
wattage (65 watt vs. 125 watt). But that processor runs at only 1.8 GHz core,
which is the same clock speed as my Athlon...

New to the A64 by
Travis King
I have never used an Athlon 64 before... What are the procedures for
installing one as well as the heatsink? Are there anything I need to watch
out for especially when mounting the heatsink? I have always installed
Athlon XPs in the past... I heard that the heatsink installation isn't as
risky...

What memory to use with X2 ? by
ScottHW
I am building a new PC, AMD X2 is the only thing I am sure of. As for
mobo, probably Abit. What I am having the most trouble is pinning down
exactly what memory I should put in this thing.
First, let me say, I am not a gamer, so that is not a consideration. I
do some occassional photo scanning and...

AMD Boxed CPU Thermal Paste by
* * Chas
Does anyone here know what kind of thermal paste AMD uses on the pad on
their latest heatsink/fans in the retail boxed CPUs?
I picked up a retail boxed Athlon 64 3000+ CPU with a Venice core.
The paste on the pad is silver and looks like it's either silver or
aluminum.
If it's already silver...

MSI & ATI chipset motherboard by
Yousuf Khan
A friend just picked up a Socket 939 micro-ATX motherboard from MSI, the
RS480M2 with integrated graphics. It has an ATI Radion Xpress 200
chipset. I'm not too familiar with this chipset, any word out there
about its compatibility, reliability, and performance?

I was stupid enough to buy this chip to upgrade my computer. Now after 3

64 bit development tools by
Paul
Hi
Does anyone know where I can get hold of the 64bit compiler and libraries
for the AMD64. Unfortunately I don't have access to MSDN and for some
strange reason microsoft is not making them downloadable. This seems a
strange way to encourage people to port apps to 64 bit ?
