Ram question - CAS3vs.4; 2 gig sticks, ECCv. Non-ecc by
Jeff
I'm looking to build a new machine and haven't decided on the memory yet
other than to probably go with either the Corsair dominator 2x1GB DDR2 800
in CAS3, which is a bit on the expensive side at $463 for the pair, or the
Corsair XMS2 in CAS4 with all other specs the same at $262. I'm already...

....@m
I have an old motherboard by pcs, p6set-ml , and it has a socket 370
and a slot one on it. There is no voltage jumper. You configure the
FSB and the multiplier in BIOS. I can set the FSB to 100 and mult to

chips (celeron and...

Seagate support by
MikeM
Almost 2 weeks ago I returned a Seagate HDD under warrantee. Since
then I have been seeing a number of reports of problems with Seagate
warrantree support, and that when they replace a drive it is with a
refurbished drive. Is this a widely held view of Seagate support.

Windows 95 in a modern pc by
Kev Nurse
Hi Guys,
I have a spare modern pc that my son wants to play some old Win 95
games on. I have the old DOS/Win95 software, but is there a
compatability problem with a modern motherboard and hard drive, etc?
Is FAT16 and FAT32 an issue?
Any comments and suggestions would be appreciated, thanks.

Hello,
I have a few USB cables that I have not used in a while. I do not know if
they are USB 1 or USB 2 cables. Is there an easy way to tell? Thanks.

Quiet Socket A CPU fan for athlon by
Allie
Hi Folks,
My athlon socket a is running at around 1GHz. I'd like to get a new,
quiet cpu fan for it (the old one is gummed up and noisy as hell).
Anyone have any suggestions? Don't want to spend a mint, of course.
Thanks a ton, all.
Best,
Allie

OT - Backup Reliability: Flash Drive vs Micro HDD ? by
Magnusfarce
This is somewhat off topic, but I'm sure the answer lies in this group. I'm
interested in using either a 4 or 8 gig flash drive or an equivalent
micro-hard drive for off site (and travel) backups of critical files.
Assuming I stick to quality brands, which approach do you think will be more...

Windows Install/Setupdds.sys/Page error by
Tekipunk
I'm installing an operating system on my girlfriends brand new system.
Every time I get to the step where you format the drive I hit enter to
format and I get a STOP error, 0x000000BE. I looked it up, This is a
bad ram error stereotypically. So I Ran memtest 32 on it and the ram
checks out fine....

OK here's problem for ya all. Have an Asrock k7vm3 that is working just
fine. Only problem with is my mike will not work with the VIA sound chip
set, something to do with Asrock being too cheap to put a power driver on
the board so that us people that don't have USB mike can use them. Anyway I...

quick question about BFG 7950GT card by
John Gillis
I am hesitating buying the BFG Tech 7950 GT OC graphics card because
it looks like a
card geared for more advanced machines and for those who like to over
clock. By installing this card does this mean I'll have to monitor
its heat more so than the PNY Verto 7950GT? I don't want to worry
about...

I have a Dell Dimension 8200 model tower with a cooling fan

was making tons of noise and it was not that one, it was a fan on an
AGP graphics card - I replaced that card, plugged in my fan again and
the PC keeps sending me an...

I have a Packard Bell imedia 3054 and am trying to fit a GeForce5500

computer won't boot with TV card(s) in by
tg
I got a strange problem with a couple of TV tuner PCI cards.
One is a Videomate TV/PVR/FM, the other is Fly DVB-T Hybrid. If I plug either one of them into any PCI slot on my motherboard the
PC won't boot - the fan and lights come on but the screen is black. If I take the TV card out my PC boots up...
