STMS / MPxIO path count limitation Solaris_10 by
[email protected]
Does anyone in the group know of any documented limitation regarding
the manimum number of paths per device that can be managed by MPxIO.
If a SAN storage controller failure occurs it might be that 8 of 16
paths to a device will fail. Is there any scenario where I/O retry
count could be used up...

File weirdness, not the usual multisession problem AFAIK by
Karl Engel
Can anyone explain this? I've burnt some files in at least two
sessions on an Imation DVD-R disk. I know some drives won't show more
than the first session with certain media/hardware/software
combinations, but this is what threw me: Disc is in the drive in which
it was burnt; drive is connected to...

Inexpensive alternative to a SAN by
Keith
I know it sounds kludgy, cheap and amateurish, but...
I have a legacy app that millions of small, static image files. The
app requires a mapped drive letter, so they all have to be on one
volume. Problem is, it's getting to be too much to store on a sigle
volume. Is there an inexpensive (or open...

Better iSCSI Configuration -- iSCSI HBA or Multi-port Gbit NIC? by
Troy Reid
While I understand iSCSI protocol performance is a combination of
latency, throughput and host resource overhead, which iSCSI
configuration would provide better overall performance?
A) An iSCSI HBA such as the Adaptec ASA-7211 with a single 1Gbit
Ethernet port, or;
B) A dual port NIC such as the...

EMC Specific Mailing List by
Ramesh Pun
Hi,
I found an EMC specific mailing list / group on yahoo groups.
It deals with EMC software and hardware only.
That list is a low volume list, and could certainly use expertise which I
have seen on this newsgroup.
Please join the group at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/emc_list/

mirroring across ssa adapters? by
Mike
We're trying to reduce the current window required to
read backups from the network and write to the TSM
storage pool. One idea presented and asked is if it
is possible to put two ssa adapters in the tsm server
with lots of disk on the ssa trays, then tell lvm to
create the lv such that the PPs are...

Guillaume Dargaud
I _had_ two internal disks with lots of data.

The other drive (L:) had 11 various linux partitions and one 172Gb FAT32 partition.
So I moved everything from F: to L:
I changed the cluster size on F: and...

Error Code A on IBM LTO2 Tape Drives by
Will
I've noticed on almost all Scalar 100 and Dell 136T tape libraries running
with IBM LTO2 drives, that you will occasionally get a flashing A error
code. After a lot of research with ADIC on this problem, we were told that
in most cases this is caused by a drive recalibration, and it is normal...
