Feedback on an njini type of product? by
[email protected]
Hi... has anyone looked into njini.com? They have some sort of ILM
product... I am looking for feedback on it...
How does this relate to rainfinity from EMC? Is njini a better way of
doing abstraction and migration?
Jon.

Emulex LP-9002L-E by
derek123
Hello,
I consider to buy four refurbished Emulex LP9002L-E fibre channel host bus
adapters for my Lab servers (Solaris, AIX, HP-UX, Windows). The disk array
is IBM DS8100.
I would like to perform some failover and clustering tests:
1. Failover software such as pvlinks or Veritas DMP.

Designing A File Server With Best Price Performance? by
Curtis Preston
A TOE card replaces the onboard NIC. I think you'll find things have
been approved.
I'm not sure I agree with your comment that you can't get CPU bound
with
file sharing, since I've seen plenty of really high-end file servers
that
cost hundreds of thousands of dollars get CPU-bound. But...

Email storage for an SMB by
[email protected]
An organization of about 3000 people produces about 1TB of email a
year... so if I were just an E-mail administrator, and my company has a
email retention policy of 10 years, why cant I buy 20 TB (assuming
RAID) of disk space (which is about $15K)... and have some sort of
backup policy and delete...

Curious about users' experiences with CDP by
W. Curtis Preston
It's a popular topic among industry experts (myself included), but I
don't get to talk to many people that are actually deploying CDP
technology. I thought I'd use my renewed interest in Usenet to see if
there's anyone out there who'd like to actually talk about their
experiences (good or bad)...

Experience with StorageWorks hsg80 by
[email protected]
Hey,
My experience with storage solutions is very limited, so forgive me for
this newbie question. We have a TruCluster with 2 nodes connected with
hsg80. I was wondering upon shutdown of the servers is the cache
flushed to the disks? If not, is the only way to get it flushed is to
connect via the...

Can't get CLI on hsg80 to accept input by
[email protected]
The most weird thing happened in our hsg80 today. I was trying to
connect to the CLI using the maintanance port, however couldn't see any
startup banner. I've checked all my terminal configuration options and
it was according to reccomended in the guide. Frustrated, I've reseted
one of the...

SATA RAID Enclosure That Exposes Fibre or iSCSI? by
Will
I have been a long time fan of the Compaq RA4100 RAID enclosure. They
cost next to nothing, and they do a full RAID 1+0 on up to 14 SCSI 15K
hotswap drives. To make things even nicer, they work with off the shelf
SCSI 80 pin drives that are almost any manufacturer and model. A common
use...

Intelligent Array Internals by
[email protected]
I am interested in knowing the exact algorithms for cache destaging
and prefetching that are used for any EMC array .. Does EMC publish
which algorithms it uses inside its arrays ? Or does someone has any
hints about the same ?

Unfortunately, they make a custom hard drive. So, like a lot of other
things with Dell, you'll have to get it through them, AFAIK.

I have Commvault Galaxy Express installed on my Windows 2003 server. I
have 5 iData remote agent licences. Is there any way to push the

having to goto every server and manually install the agent?

NetApp SAN storage.. by
Roger Hinson
Hey all,
We're a new customer with NetApp and started by using their SAN
solutions. Has anyone used their SAN storage on Windows, either standalone
or clustered? We've had some problems, mainly with SnapDrive, and I was
wondering what experiences others were having.

scsi_vhci driver support for EMC DMX3 by
[email protected]
Does the Sun Storedge Traffic Manager support EMC DMX3 devices? How
does SVM handles the multipathing in case if the metadevice is created
on one path and that fails?
I understand that the psuedo device naming convention takes care of the
meta devices in case if they are Sun Storage devices. As of...
