Intel and USB-3: How are Nvidia and Microsoft involved? by Intel Guy
Intel has been dragging it's feet over providing USB-3 support in it's chipsets. This is because it really would rather see it's own "Light Peak" fiber-optic solution become an industry standard instead. Nvidia has been making a lot of noise over the fact that Intel has been delaying USB3, but...

AMD retires 3DNow! instruction set by Yousuf Khan[_2_]
I think it's good that somebody isn't afraid to remove support for certain legacy instruction sets in the x86 world. It's not that software will fail because of it, since the proper way to implement support for it was to check its flag with the CPUID instructions. Yousuf Khan *** HEXUS.net -...

Intel's agreement with the FTC by Bob Willard

D865GLCLK-PB Front Panel Pinouts? by (PeteCresswell)
I just bought one of these things, but the user manual downloaded from Intel only has pinouts for the D865GBF, which are clearly different from the GLCLK-PB. (the manual claims to cover both boards...) Can anybody point me to a pinout diagram for this board? -- PeteCresswell

Things change so fast that even reading Hennessey and Patterson isn't enough to keep up. Here's a document from someone who clearly doesn't take someone else's word for it if he doesn't have to: http://www.agner.org/optimize/microarchitecture.pdf Includes an interesting discussion of SMT and...

Is D945 Chipset Windows 7 Compatible? by Don[_14_]
Can I run Windows 7 on a PC with an Intel D945GNT series motherboard? I'm not using the onboard audio or video chips. If necessary, can I download the chipset drivers? It has 4 gigs or ram and dual core 3.4 ghz processor. I know it's over three years old, but it is fast enough for me. Thanks
