Dell laptop password by
Mjec
Hi,
I have a problem. I have a Dell Latatude laptop (fairly old) and I
put on a hard drive password. Suddenly today it won't accept my
password any more.
Can anyone think of why this would happen or how I can fix/bypass it?
I can boot up hdd-free (using boot disks I can get to DOS easily)...

Graphics card woes by
David W
Just got a new graphics card: "MSI GeForce4 MX440 AGP 8x".
When I install the supplied drivers (same version as latest downloadable
from nvidia.com) in Win XP Pro, the screen seems to go into power saving
mode shortly after logging in every time. All I (and my google searches)
can think of is that...

For work, as in business applications? I suggest that you avoid
overclocking, and get an Athlon XP3000+, XP2800+ 333 Barton,
or XP2600+333 system if you want great performance at a very
reasonable price.

The second is clearly the faster of the two. However, in my opinion
computers used for work have no business being overclocked. Stability
and accuracy are what is needed for a work computer. These are
awesome gaming machines.

Serial Mouse with KVM Switch by
Thomas M
I want to buy a KVM switch to control two computers--a new Dell server
that came without a keyboard or mouse, and an older machine (case circa
1992, but internal components are all relatively new) with a DIN5
keyboard port and a DB25 serial mouse port. The mouse already uses a DB9
to DB25...

Widescreen HDTV as monitor? by
Joe Mason
Stupid question, perhaps:
I'm trying to cut down on the clutter here, and having a separate
computer and TV monitor is taking up too much space. But to get an LCD
monitor as big as my TV would be way out of my budget.
Now, I'm looking at this 30" 16:9 HDTV (a Samsung Dynaflat TXM3097WHF to

Sending Infrared Signals (simulating remote controls) by

Looking for a PCI card capable of 1280X768 by
bluescreen
Hi,
Your post takes me back a few years (nearly 5!) when I bought an
Iiyama monitor capable of a 'UXGA' 1600x1200 display. Basically there
are a few select resolutions that have been adopted by the
monitor/gcard vendors and yours is not one of them, roughly speaking:
VGA 640x480 SVGA 800x600 XGA...
