Problems with Dynamically reconfigured disks. by
Schmuck
Hi all,
I've got a SAN here with 5 solaris 8 and 9 machines hanging off an EMC
Clariion CX600. I've just imported 1.5TBG of new LUNs (around 50
Luns). On four machines, they came in with no problem.
However, on the fifth, there are 5 LUNs that I can't see. They are
presented in the same way, and...

mirroring across ssa adapters? by
Mike
We're trying to reduce the current window required to
read backups from the network and write to the TSM
storage pool. One idea presented and asked is if it
is possible to put two ssa adapters in the tsm server
with lots of disk on the ssa trays, then tell lvm to
create the lv such that the PPs are...

Syncsort by
Paul
Hey all,
I've been tasked with evaluating Syncsort. I'm wondering if anyone has
any experiences (good or bad) with the product. I'll be putting it in
my lab when the 2.2 GA comes out, but it's not a full fledged lab, so I
won't be able to do full scale operational-type testing...
Comparisons...

Solaris + Clariion. Max LUNs. by
Schmuck
Gurus,
I have an EMC clariion CX600 hooked up to an SAN running Solaris 8 and
9 boxes. We are getting close to 256 LUNs, and noticed that the
/kernel/drv/sd.conf only defines LUNs 0-256
ie: last line:
name="sd" parent="lpfc" target=17 lun=255;

Win2k dynamic disks recoverability issues by
richard rhodes
We have started to migrate a bunch of Windows servers (Win2k server)
to our san. The storage is primarily EMC Symm storage. Due to the
hypervolume size, we have not been able to create individual luns
(Symm meta volumes) as big as the Windows support team would like.
The Windows support team...

Suggestions for planned bonnie++ benchmark by
Jochen Kaiser
Dear all,
I've posted some time ago and reported problems with latency on our SAN.
We've come to the conclusion that we've to run a benchmark, we've
suggested bonnie++ and our Datacenter has welcomed that idea.
We mainly host DB2 Databases on the SAN and have an application which
writes (and...

parity disk is used in RAID 3 & 4, how it is used in RAID system?
for example:
Reading: no r/w operations on parity disk.
Writing: whenever writing a block to disk, the corresponding block on
