Heat range of AMD XP cpu by
Tod
I have an AMD XP 2000 (A 6-8-0)
Using a nice big Heatsink and ball bearing fan
I'm trying some overclocking, increasing FSB/Memory on a K7S5A PRO
I've seen the CPU get as hot as 49C
How hot can this CPU get before becoming unstable ?

upgrading options by
Matty Anderson
I've got an Albatron KX400+ Pro board, which officially supports 333 fsb (2
x 166). This mobo also gives overclocking instructions, whereby (following
the instructions) I can up the fsb to 160, and by running the ram at 2.5x, I
can run the ram at 400. So far so good.
Let it be stated that my goal...

change the multiplier in the bios by
Christian Stade-Schuldt
Is it possible to change the multiplier in the bios of Gigabyte's
GA-7VM400AM with VIA KM400A chipset?
Maybe in the advanced options?
www.gigabyte.de/MotherBoard/Products/Products_GA-7VM400AM.htm
I possess the GA-7N400Pro2 and there you can change the multiplier via a
dipswitch on the motherboard...

Ram performance by
OZMAN
My system:
Asus A7N8X
Athlon 2400+
512mb Kingston PC2100

I'm wondering if I upgrade my RAM to PC 3200 would it give me a performance
boost. I know my processor runs at a 133 bus speed.

Steve
tomW wrote:
Hi all. This is a followup to my recent post about overclocking a
l7vmm3 with a xp athlon cpu. Thank you all for your help. However,
I've just realized it's a 5 bit athlon. Does this make any
difference?
Thanks
Tom
There is no such thing as a 5bit processor!

Sudden slow down in performance using some programs, disk cache problem? by
DS
Hi
My system was apparently overheating and crashing (although temps shown in
probe were ok) I have fixed this problem with new fans and cpu heatsink.
However, since that i have been getting an error when i boot that looked
like a problem with the pagefile.sys. I have followed advice to try and...

The dreaded cooling question by
Norm
I currently have a Volcano 11 on a Barton 3000, Asus A7N8X mobo, aluminum
case with 2x120mm fans. I have reset the heat sink twice with AC5.. as an
effort to get temps down .my temps reach the high 50's under a load.
(Nothing is over clocked).
My CPU should be ok with these temps but would like...

Can I clock it? by
Gareth Tuckwell
My athlon has this serial number:
AMD Athlon TM
AXDA2400DKV3C 9574772250426
AIXHB 0321TPAW c 1999 AMD
It normally runs at 15 x fsb (133).
Can I change the multiplier without soldering or tampering with this CPU?

The L12 Mod by
Tim
Does anyone know, specifically, what the L12 mod actually does? I have a
theory that it steps up the voltage to the FSB side of the CPU's L2 cache,
to stabilize a default 133MHz FSB for higher frequencies. It seems to
suggest that Athlon XPs are running at dual voltages but the second one...

overclocking ecs l7vmm3 (with athlon 2200 cpu) by
tomW
Hello. I have an ecs l7vmm3 which is supposed to be able to run at 2.5
gHz. It uses an overclocked athlon 2200 cpu. I am able to get a top fsb of
149 mhz, but system info tells me it's running at 1.86 gHz. I
should be able to get it up to 2.5 gHz. Anyone know how to do this? I'm a
novice at...

Just met one of these things for the first time. By default, shows as XP

Simple question, where should I leave it without contravening the
manufacturers settings?
Doubt if it could be as simple as 2400 because the XP 2600+ thbd...

Overclocking Athlon 64 - 3500? 3700? 3800? Is there a "sweet spot"? by
Marc Brown
Not sure how exactly I'm going to phrase this question, but here
goes. I'm trying to figure out which Athlon 64 to get, and I've
decided that I'm going to base my decision on each CPU's
generally acknowledged overclockability. The obvious answer is
that an overclocked 3800 will be faster than an...
