DG965-vista by Josh
I have a DG965whmkr, just got around to installing vista. In device manager, there is a "Simple PCI Communication" (or words like that) device. Googling, it seems like most people say to disable Quick Resume in BIOS. But, I've already disabled that. Any suggestions? Thanks, Josh

Hello everyone! I wondered why cpuid was serialization instruction like RSM and many other. Indeed, I don't understand why it requires previouses instruction to be completed. Thank you :)

Intel corp: The computer *OWNER* is the *ENEMY* and we must designour TCM chips to protect against him. by [email protected]

Sekavia nuo Plus-TV hommelit by Ossi Varis
BANG! Maailmankaikkeuden historia./Neutriino. Neutriinot ovat pieniä ja hyvin kevyitä hiukkasia. Niitä syntyy ydinfuusiossa, jotka toimivat tähtien (esimerkiksi Auringon, perusydinvoimalan) energian lähteinä. Useiden vuosien ajan neutriinojen oletettiin olevan massattomia, mutta nykyään tiedetään...

Will someone explain... by Eemil Mikkonen
Olen jopa itse hämmästynyt siitä peittelemättömästä ydinalan panikoinnista, jota jo parhaillaan päällemme kaatuvat ydinekotuhot täällä netissä aiheuttaa. Oli tosiaan täys ylläri miten SELKEÄSTI ydinlobbaajat lopulta alkoivat oivaltaa ydinalan syyksi nykymaailmamme jyrääviin tuhoihin. Mehiläistuhon...

Intel Motherboards (or other) that support Hyper V in Server 2008 by [email protected]
Hi folks. I'm trying to put together an inexpensive system that will run server 2008 and be able to use HyperV. I know there are certain things that the processor must be able to do and the motherboard as well. I can't seem to find a list of motherboards or CPUs that will perform this...

What Linux and HW Should I have bought in 2006?? by Errol
Back in December 2006 I had to make a choice for a database app. I had 150+ users and wanted to go to GNU on a 4-way system. Does anyone know what my choices would have been back then? CPU clock speed, RAM, IO Subsystem, platform HW and OS stability? (Just trying to settle an argument)

understanding physical address usage by Daniel Chicayban Bastos
Some devices memory are mapped on the main memory and this provides an easy way to talk to them. So these mappings must be taking addresses that I could use for data, right? I'm trying to understand what addresses are available to me once I account for all hardware needs. Let's say I want to...

DG965WH Hard drive by [email protected]
Looking at getting new SATA HD, is there a size limation for this board, DG965WH? I looked at Intel's web site, can find which Processors are compatable, but didn't see anything about Hard drive size. Some people say they have to F6 on install, and use "something" (doesn't sound like they're...

I am wondering whether I can get gcc or as (or any other compiler or assembler) to compile a C program in ILP32 model, but to use amd64 instructions that will work even in the 64-bit/long mode mode. The default operand size when in long mode is 32 bits. The default address size is 64 bits but, at...

AMD's 45nm technology compared against Intel's by Yousuf Khan
Interesting the AMD 45nm technology does not yet include High-K & Metal Gates (HKMG), yet it uses 15-30% less power. Of course AMD does use SOI, which Intel doesn't. So it looks like currently SOI utilizes power better than HKMG, but AMD also plans to use HKMG in later 45nm revision. Yousuf...
