Which Slot 1 SECC2 P3 fan? by Scott Gregg
Hello, Just wanted to get a few opinions on which fan to get to replace my dead Slot 1 SECC@ P3 733 fan. The original is a 2 fan job, so I went looking for one of those. But, then I came across some 3 fan jobs, and that intrigued me. Certainly, 3 fans must be better than 2, right? Also, my MB...

Number of memory modules matter? by Mickey Mouse
All this depends on the Motherboard. Sometimes Asus motherboards are picky. "John" wrote in message news:MPG.199a23195cbfca329896b0@news... On a PII400, Intel SE440BX, WIN98SE, would 2 memory modules be faster than using 3? I remember briefly reading something about this...

I just flashed a bios to an older Epox 8KHA+ MB that will be used for emergency replacement and extra storage, etc(I'll be replacing an Athlon 1600+ with a 2400+ cpu------never wanted to chance a bios change until now because everything was working very smooth). That system had a FAT32 formatted...

Erasing broken hard drive??? by Larc
I have a bad hard drive that has to be returned to Western Digital. It was the slave and has personal files as well as a Ghost image of my system drive. I'd like to get those things off the drive, but it's not accessible from Windows or DOS. The WD diagnostic program can "see" the drive, but...

Will "Pentium" PS run a K7? by Chris
I've just built a PC and powerup is a little underwhelming. The case fan and the CPU fan spin for about 1 second and then stop. Its an AMD K7 processor - but the power supply has PENTIUM on a large label. Is this power supply compatible with a K7? Any input appreciated.

Do you have to have CD-RW with a CD-ROM by jm
Some systems I have seen have both the CD-ROM and the CD-RW. Others have just a CD-RW. Is there any advantage to NOT having the CD-ROM and having the CD-RW only? Thanks.

Startup/Shutdown Problem by Jim Miner
This is a hardware problem . . . not a windows problem. When I shutdown my computer (new mobo - Epox 8RDA3+) it stutters -- it acts like it's switching between turning off and starting. The fans spin up a little, then spin down, then spin back up . . . oscillating once a second or so. I have to...

LCD monitor question by Matt M
I'm running a new KOGi L4AX LCD monitor on a Compaq 5400NX WinXP system (with onboard video) and every time that the system goes into energy save/power down mode the monitor is treating it like a power failure. When the system comes back up the monitor has split images that are all reversed and I...

More on pretty cases by ToolPackinMama
People don't usually see what's inside. What they see is what's outside. What can possibly compete with a high-recognition brand-name better than a flashy case? :)

GigaByte Radeon 9200 vs. ATI Radeon 9200 by doug blaisdell
I need some help deciding between these two. I'm putting together a budget gaming system, and wonder whether the ATI is worth the additional bucks. It has Direct X support built in, which the GigaByte doesn't seem to have. I don't know anything about differences in performance or quality of these...

865G with HT and Dual DDR? by Raider
From the bits I read on TomsHardware, I know that most MBs with 865PE can do HT and dual DDR just as well as the expensive 875. But after being very interested with a new Flex format case, I saw that ASUS has a Flex format board with the 865G chipset, and it does mention HT and dual DDR. Can the...
