Appears to be dysfunctional at the moment, but maybe they are
reworking some stuff. The page design is slightly different.
I would question whether it is newer or just...

How can I tell for sure if my motherboard is fried? by
[email protected]
Hello everyone. The eyelet that the hook on the heat sink hooks to
broke off from the motherboard so the heatsink isn't touching the
chipset (not the cpu). So now the computer won't boot and I'm afraid
my notherboard is toast but I don't see any visible signs of damage.
Nothing melted or black or...

Seum
Hello again Geniuses :-)
This my first attempt at Imageshack.us. I have 2 pics there and would
appreciate if you could tell me whether this CD is usable for an
installation or just a recovery disk.
This should be the link:

Should I be checking the files skipped during a virus scan? by
RayLopez99
'The process cannot access the file because it is being used by
another process' is what the avast! anti-virus program says for
various files.
A list of files is given.
Should I be checking to see whether these same files are not being
scanned or accessed the next time I scan? Or is that being...

Linux by
Davej
It used to be said that Linux was good for any old boat anchor you had
lying around. Is that still true? Are there bad hardware choices? What
about old laptops? I need to get Ubuntu up and running with ethernet
and USB. Thanks!

OS installation on new components- BIOS Qs. by
Seum
Hello again Experts :-)
I have recently bought the internal components for a "new" computer: an
ASUS motherboard M4A88TD-V, an AMD CPU, a Corsier 750 PSU, and an older
empty 750GB Seagate HD. I have tried to install Win XP and failed, and
whether the reason is that the DVD or Win XP is faulty,...

Who owns a tablet/netbook? Is it better than a laptop? Who runsAndroid OS? by
RayLopez99
I'm interested in comparing a tablet with docking station and solid
state HDD, say arounnd 50 GB with say 1 GB memory (or maybe 2 GB),
running Android OS to a $500 laptop of the same price running a
traditional mechanical HDD, Windows 7, and say a Core 2 duo or i3
Intel chip with 2 GB or more...

OT YouTube video settings? by
John Doe
Is there a way to set the default YouTube video playback to
low-quality? It is cool for instant access to golden oldies (and
some new stuff I should become familiar with). Using low-quality
video by defaul might help with the playback speed.

Ghosting or Restoring ? by
Davej
I have a gamer pc running XP-SP3 that seems to work less well the
longer it is used. When I get disgusted enough I reformat and
reinstall everything -- about once or twice a year. Is there a
practical method to do this quickly? I have heard of "ghosting" but
have zero experience with it. Thanks.

hdmi vs soundcard vs realtek chip? by
anotherpaul
Both the pc & mac are connected to the monitor via hdmi; no idea
what DAC the monitor is using at its headphone out.
The Mac mini is getting sound from the monitor while the pc
is still using the HT Claro as primary sound out. For the
Mac, the monitor headphone out is connected to the M-audio

quick question about USB cards... by
Eric[_20_]
My friend has a relatively new Win7pro system (I don't have the specs at the
moment) and we added a USB 2.0 card (Rosewill NEC 4+1 Port USB2.0 PCI CARD
Model RC-101 ). Now if he has anything plugged into that card on boot the
system doesn't make it past the post screen before it locks up, but if...

End of support for WinXP by
Davej
I noticed that Microsoft Windows Update is now behaving oddly for XP.
You get to a page that says it will no longer update a pc running SP2
but even if you manually install SP3 it says the same thing.

Best way to move HUGE data from one folder to another by
Seum
I have a folder with about 35GB of data and, after I started
moving file after file, from one column F: to another N:, it seemed very
slow and tedious. I could not select all the files, not even 2 together,
and I thought about renaming the two folders.
I renamed N with O, but it ended up with...

kvm vs powered hub properties by
anotherpaul
Is there any thing unique in a usb kvm vs a powered usb hub, other than
the vga port?
The hub should send all signals to the computer. And isn't a kvm just
a "hub" with a switch?
