Yes, there is something 'special' about 200MHz. The KT600 chip-set used on
the board in question does not have locked AGP and PCI busses, therefore
the
only way to keep the PCI and AGP in spec is to...

OCZ memory by

I got a barton 2500 and it's made before the lock of the multiplicator
and it's at the moment running at 12.5\175.The reason I don't raise the
bus speed more is my bad memorys.I got 2 256 pc3400.The brand is
Apacer. If I just raise the bus speed to 176 I get errors running prime

Question about heatsink by
notme
Hi, I just bought an xp2600 (Barton) to replace my previous xp2400.
After removing the old processor + heatsink, I placed the new one,
and then try to place the hsc that came in the package. Unfortunately,
I couldn't (and I tried it in many ways). After giving up, there was a
little
of the thermal...

.13 microns...... huh?!? by
Opticreep
I apologize in advance for such a newbie-ish question, but...
I'm trying to figure out if my ECS K7VTA3 (v3.1a) motherboard could
support an Athlon XP 2400 processor. So I went to the ECS website.
In the CPU chart, it said that the motherboard could support up to
2100+ at "133MHz", or 2400+ at...

Dual Channel Memory on Single Channel boards? by
Rich Lowe
If I buy memory in a dual channel pack (2x512MB) it will still work
alright in a single channel board right? The memory is:
http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDesc.asp?description=20-146-985&depa=1
And my motherboard is an MSI K8N Neo Platinum
Thanks a bunch,

Cleaning a processor by
Richard Bailey
I had to RMA a mb back so I'll have to reinstall the processor (barton
2500+) when it gets back. What's the best way to clean the old heat sink
goop off with out damaging the processor? This was the stock (new) heat sink
plus a little arctic silver.
Thanks
Richard

xp2400+mobile by

I'm running an A7n8x-x mobo, kingmax pc3700 ram, 460 watt psu, vcore 1.7v.
182x 12.5 @ 2277 mhz.
Even though I have a 400 mhz mobo and fast enough ram it seems as though
I've hit a wall with 182 fsb speed. Tried different multipliers and always
the same thing.......can't get past...

It was suggested that I try overclocking in an earlier post.
My Athlon XP2600+ T-Bred (with 256Kb L2 Cache and default 2083MHz) is
running at 2205MHz comfortably and as yet, I have not experienced any
problems. I have burnt some CDs and processed some divx movie files and the
hottest it has...

Run AthlonXP 2400+ T-Bred at 200MHz FSB to utilize PC3200 RAM? by
Jonathan A.
Hi,
Not sure how much of an overclocking question this is, but I figure this
group would be clued about this situation...
I've been considering a memory upgrade and am having trouble deciding,
based on researching web/newsgroup articles, whether what I have in mind
makes sense.
I have an MSI...

Mobile athlon on Desktop motherboard by

If I'm installing a MOBILE AMD Athlon XP-M 2600+ on a desktop motherboard

I installed a normal Athlon XP 2600+ ?
The motherboard supports the normal 266MHz 2600+, will it see the mobile one

Do I...

Don't understand MB temp by

I'm trying to understand why/whether my MB temp are high. Or, assuming the
CPU temps are about right for the setup/rig, is the MB reading is either
simply wrong or close to the display adapter?
Using hmonitor: MB = 36-37 C, CPU =46-47 C at idle, high fifties under game
load. Room ambient is 20...

Overclocking a Barton...? by
Humja
Hi!
I've done a lot of research on overclocking a Barton, in particular the
Athlob XP 2600+ model. Virtually everywhere I go it says it could *easily*
reach a FSB of 200Mhz...%$*&%...I can only get to 170Mhz until my computer
fails to boot up.
I have the ASUS A7N8X deluxe. Argueably one of the...

better cooler by

Providing that it fits your motherboard, which you don't mention, a Zalman
7000CU cooler is both quiet and very effective. You can check for
compatibility at Zalman's website. At its highest fan setting of 2500rpm it
is also very quiet.
It fits Socket 462 - 478 - 774 - 939 so longevity is also...
