PCI Express shuttle systems?!?! by
Rob Jellinghaus
Looks like the PCI Express wave starts to break on the shores of the PC
industry around the end of June.
I'm looking to upgrade my 1999 Abit BH6 system (Celeron 1.2Ghz, GeForce
3) this summer... been so long since I climbed aboard the bleeding edge
that I can't resist :-D
I love the small form...

PCI pin capacitance and loads by
Hong Siew Lung
Hi,
I'm a PCI newbie. I'm reading through the PCI spec and am a little
confused about the capacitance requirements. It says that the max
loading for any signal on an add-in card is 1 load, and the max load
for any signal on the system bus is 10 loads. So, I'm confused he
if we plug the add-in...

PCI Slot IRQs by
Ultra5
How can I force PCI slots to have separate interrupts? On an older Intel
915 based motherboard there used to be BIOS options (i.e. PCI Slot1 IRQ
Priority) for this. On Intel 945 and Intel 965 motherboards this option is
not present.
Does anybody know if I can use the PCI BIOS Function (0xb1),...

PCI slots do not work by
Joakim Johansson
Hi there,
Abit AN8, AMD3200+, 2Gb, Bios AN820,
My PCI slots used to work ( 1 year ago) but I haven't used them for a
while. Now when installed my soundcard, XP doesn't find it. I have tried
the soundcard at a different computer, and it worked. I have also tried
with 3 different PCI-network...

PCI subdevice and subvendor IDs by
Franc Zabkar
Are the PCI subdevice and subvendor IDs for various chipset components
programmed into the chipset, or are they programmed into an external
EEPROM?
For example, I have an ECS motherboard with an SiS 746/963 chipset.
The USB 1.1 (SiS 7001) and 2.0 (SiS 7002) controllers in the
southbridge are...

PCI-E video cards on Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe --- limitations?? by
Carlos Moreno
I'm having trouble setting up my Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe; no a priori
reason to believe
it may be defective.
I'm connecting an AMD64 X2 4200+, with 2GB of DDR400 RAM (two pairs),
and a
PCI-E x16 video card with chipset nVidia (GeForce 6600 LE).
The thing won't boot, with beep code: long - short -...

PCI-X primer or overview by
Grant Schoep
Hey all, I'm trying to get back up to speed with current technoologies. One
thing I am a bit muddle on yet is the new PCI-X or PCI express bus, that
newer motherboards are coming out with. I know some general info about it,
but I would love to find some good articles somewhere on the net to give...

PCI/AGP bridge latency causes serial port CE_OVERRUN errors on IBM ThinkPad T21 by
Graham Stoney
Hi Gurus,
I have an IBM ThinkPad T21 Laptop (Pentium III-750Mhz) running Windows
2000. Using serial port COM1 at 115kbaud, it experiences CE_OVERRUN
errors from ClearCommError in the Win32 API. This indicates that the
serial port is losing bytes due to a FIFO overrun in the
16550-compatible UART....

Pentium 3.0 being dumped at stores, some with decent prices???? by
Patty Amas
It is Thanksgiving and I see a lot of desktop computers at Best Buy
and the like with pretty much Pentium 3.0ghz only on the shelves. I am
excluding AMD at this time.
Do you think that the stores and Intel are trying to get rid of 3.0ghz
units for the next wave of perhaps 3.2 on the shelves since...

plug it considering a downgrading of FSB to 400 MHz in the processor, or
just the system crashed?
