Combo drives/rewriters? by
Tony Stanford
As I said in another thread, I'm looking to buy an external drive that
will write/rewrite CDs and DVDs.
I notice on some retailers' websites that sometimes these kits are
described as combo drives, sometimes as just dvd writers/rewriters, but
they all do the same thing. What precisely is the...

dumb question on data vs music cdr's by
Clarity
I found a deal at Sam's club for $18 for 50 Verbatim music cdr's with cases
but I was not sure they're good for data too.
Are music cdr's good for data too or just good for makin' music?
Thanks

I have tried to burn several cd-r's lately and I am getting a bunch of

Burning Images along with other folders by
Sreekant
Dear Friends,
I have a small query regarding burning CDs.
I wanted to know how can I burn a bootable cd and also add some more
folders and files of my choice along with it.
For Example: Suppose I have a bootable winxp Cd, of which I have
already created an image, and I have some other utility...

Kinds of CD by
Richard
Hi. If I choose a file or files on my HDD, and make an audio CD, I am I
believe burning CDA files onto my CD. So, a CD with CDA files is an audio
CD. Correct?
But, what if I want to choose to burn an MP3 file or files onto my CD, what
kind of CD am I making then?
And, with NERO 5, how do I do...

New CD drive good for audio DAE (with EAC) by
Paul Atreides
Hi All,
I've an old PC with decent (but some are old) CD and DVD drives, SCSI
and ATA. (Ricoh, Hitachi and Plextor).
On a new PC (wich is black) there's a sh|tt# CD-ROM drive that is fast
but has none of the features required for proper CD ripping (no CD-TEXT,
no overread, no C2 error report).
I...

[comp.publish.cdrom] CD-Recordable FAQ -- pointer by
Andy McFadden
This is not the CD-Recordable Frequently Asked Questions posting, but
rather a pointer to it. I'm posting this because there may be propagation
problems with the FAQ (it's rather large for a Usenet posting), and some
sites have automatic filters that think it's spam. This is also going
out to...

GCC-4320B burning speed? by
John Oliver
My GCC-4320B says it's a 32X burner, but I never get more than 16X
sustainable. Yes, I've tried different media. And several other people
in the office have the same or very similar models and report the same
issue. Firmware is, I think, 1.11 Any way to fix?

Nero leaving temporary files behind by
Dan G
If he is doing certain kind of burns, and has his preferences set wrong,
Nero will deliberately leave image files behind, they would have an
extension of ".nrg". Otherwise, just look for the usual ".tmp" or "temp"
extension. It is certainly not normal for Nero to leave ".tmp" files behind.
He...

burning BIN image by
SleeperMan
I wonder - often i run to a BIN image without a cue file. What is this mode
2048 or 2352? is it similar than mode 1 or mode 2 when creating data CD? I
looked at google and there's a lot about how to burn with cue file, but
nothing about without it. Now i mostly extract image with WinISO and...

Nero Utilities by
RobF
Can the clean tool, system tool etc be used on Nero _Express_ 5.--series,
or only Nero?
The utilities pages refer to Nero serial key, so maybe no express users need
apply. The answer may be somewhere at Ahead but navigating for an hour to
find it is maddening.

Any quality discs close to TY? by
Mystic Mitch
Hey folks,
from reading this post, I've been hearing that FujiFilm switched suppliers
for making their blank discs.
Currently, I'm down to my final TY discs packed under the FujiFilm brand.
Hopefully, I'll find another spindle or two before they're gone for good and
I have to resort to buying the...
