Hi All, I may not be in the correct news group but does anyone know which one is for Compaq PDA's? That is if there is one. Thank you for your kind cooperation. Sincerely, John Chenis Protected by GIANT Company's Spam Inspector

Persario 2700US Recovery Trouble by rllipham
I tried to restore the factory setup by running the restore disks. The full load occurs through the three CDs. When the system tried to boot to XP Home I get a message that files are missing and can not get it to run. I have used the disks to restore on several occasions. Don't get it. Any help?

Persario 5000US - Hard Drive Imminent Failure? by Tomas
When I tried to add a spare Maxtor HDD that I have laying around, I got the message "1720 - Hard Drive detects imminent failure" during bootup. I tred to confirm the problem with Maxtor's diagnostic software, Powermax, and it did not find any problems. I also tried switching from primary IDE to...

Persario 5002 US Upgrade to XP Home by Tate Jackson
I've run into a problem upgrading from Windows ME to XP Home on a Presario 5002US Desktop. We can't do a Clean install or an Upgrade Install. The XP installation disk refused to copy over 10 or 15 files. They are mostly .dll files and .drv files. The install gets to about 99 percent complete...

phdisk partition by Paul
I am trying to create a partition using "Phdisk.exe" on a clients Presario 1650. The partition is crated at the end of the hard disk (as seen by Partition Magic 2003). However, when I go into the BIOS, I'm told that the partition doesn't exist. Note: I do not have a restore disk, nor does the...

pin out for compaq presario 4764 by Kevin Falconer
I'm bound and determined to find out why this NEW power supply from compaq does not start up. The cmos battery is a good 3v and has been cleared. When trying to bench test I applied a 1/2 amp load to a 5v circuit then jumpered green wire to ground wire and nothing. I dont think the green wire is...

Pin out of battery pack type 2941B on Compaq Presario M2000 by jacques
Hello, I got an old Compaq Presario M2000 from flea market for nothing. It starts, I installed an old Debian on it and it works. The only problem is that the battery is dead. I don't consider buying a new 2941B pack and instead replace it with a power supply.

Ping: Ben Myers by William R. Walsh
I realize it's been ~4 years, and the only explanation I have is that I was feeling nostalgic, remembering better times in alt.sys.pc-clone.compaq, wandering through the Google Groups archives when the subject of one of your messages struck me as interesting. On November 2nd, 2004 at 8:17 PM,...

Planned Obsolescence -- Laptop Power Jacks by A Different Al
This topic was broached in 2005 and, as the poster feared, it "died on the vine." Never one to take a hint, I want to revive it. Laptop power jacks are *-_DESIGNED_-* to fail! Every one I've ever seen has a 4-5cm long stiff crowbar of a power plug that jams into a flimsy jack that's...

Please advise: Dead Presario 1240 by [email protected]
Hi Everyone, I have a Presario 1240 that was on loan to someone and was returned dead. It is possible that it was accidentally plugged into the wrong power supply (the supply from a printer was returned with it instead of the Presario supply). I've disassembled it in hopes of finding a...

Please help me to decide by tran
I'm proposed to buy a brand new COMPAQ EVO N620c which production is discontinued. Do you think that will be possible to find replacement parts after say 2005 ? How about robustness of Compag batteries and notebook keyboard ? What should be the fair price ?
