Addonics Storage Towers? Good/Bad? by
Gaiko
I have been looking everywhere for reasonably cheap (cost wise) esata/
usb, 4bay, RAID 1 storage solutions and while there are some
undisputedly top notch options out there they seem to start at $500 on
up and none seem to support 2tb internal drives.
I happened upon one post in the...

Why don't they make HDDs and platters like this? by
GreenXenon
Hi:
Why don't computers companies make and sell platters individually in
stores?
CD-Rs and DVD-Rs are sold like that. So why not make HDDs with push-
open slots like with CDs?
If HDDs had push-button-open/close slots and
platters were sold by themselves, then I could say whatever I want on

Why is disk performance occasionally so slow? by
Ian R
Hi
I'm running XP Pro on an ASUS A8N-SLI with AMD X2 4200.
Every weekend I do a full backup.
For speed, I create the first backup to an internal Samsung 1TB F1 drive -
one of the current fastest drives.
I then copy the backup files to an internal mirrored RAID SATA drive.

Reading sectors on a RAID by
[email protected]
I have set up a RAID5 with 4 x 1TB disks and a SiL3132r5 controller.

I am trying to read sectors to their own and have hit a problem.
I open the drive either as Drive G \\.\G: or \\.\Phys2. Either way
I can read sectors and it...

Terry Pinnell[_2_]
On this PC (Quad Core Q9450 2.66 GHz, 4 GB DDR2 667 MHz) I have 2
identical Samsung HD753LJ 750 GB hard drives. The spec at

of 7200 RPM. In terms of its...

stacking 2.5" hard drives on top of one another by
yawnmoth
Whenever I get a new laptop, I sell my old laptop (sans the hard
drive, which I keep in storage) on eBay. I now have three 2.5" hard
drives just sitting around and to consolidate space, I've stacked them
on top of each other. Problem is, when doing this, I can feel the
permanent magnets.
3.5"...

Drives suddenly increased operating temp by
JimR
I replaced the case fan. That brought both of the drives back down to a
comfortable 38 - 39 C. They stay there consistently.
The old one was still running, but apparently not running fast enough.
I ordered the new one from TigerDirect, and it was here in a couple of
days.
Of course, the...

over my network. I can do this with the 500GB drive, but...

Drives suddenly increased operating temp by

I have a 5-year old Dell 400SC running as a home desktop, with 2 drives.
A ST 3400 633AS and a WDC WD400BB. I have been using lmsensors and

normally both run very close to 40 degrees C, which is below the alarm...
