Dropped IBM IntelliStation M Pro by
MatthewLCarter
I am going to start off and say that the IBM IntelliStation M Pro was
resting on a chair and fell. I know, stupid and I am paying the
price.
I have tried multiple VIDEO cards to try to get the display to come
up, nothing doing. I see that the system powers on and yet no
beeping. Hmmm I just...

Advantages of Parallel Hz by
Radium[_2_]
Hi:
Below is an example of "parallel Hz"
http://img56.imageshack.us/img56/2427/clocksignalexample8is.gif
If each clock signal is 1 Hz, and you have a billion of them,
staggered such that every 1ns part of the CPU can start, and finish,
an instruction - making the effective 'clock rate' 1 GHz.

Opteron price cuts by
[email protected]
The A64 prices were cut in April. From what I can tell, the last time
there was any change in the official Opteron pricing was in February.
Anyone heard if any price cuts are due? Especially with the new
Barcelona/quad Opties due soon...
Cheers

Gateway KT133 Athlon rev2 upgrade? by
lyon_wonder
I recently was given an old Gateway Athlon 950MHz PC that seems to
work fine and I plan on using it as a second, backup PC. I'm curious
what is the maximum Athlon this VIA-based mainboard will support?
According to CPUz the chipset is a VIA KT133 revision 2 on a mainboard
made by Microstar, model...

SPD Error: Possible To Override? by
[email protected]
Hi.
I have a couple of identical ECC PC100 memory modules which have been
working fine for years, but have recently started playing up. This
occurred after my computer had developed a seemingly unrelated fault
(I stripped and reassembled it as I've done dozens of times before and
then the memory...

Advantages of Parallel Hz by

It doesn't. As I understand it, heat is generated by transistors
mainly during switching, i.e. when it's doing something.
Your understanding is close, but not exactly correct.
Look at Figure 2 in this Chip Design Magazine...

BIOS Flash mapping by
Alfie Noakes
In the past I've done lots of embedded flash programming at work, so
decided to have a muck about with the flash BIOS in an old Pentium II
I've got.
The flash is a 1 Mbit (128k x 8) device and I can see a hunk of it in
memory at segment F000, but I can't find the other 64K (it's not at
E000),...

Updating BIOS on a Gigabyte MB by
Jesco Lincke
Hi,
I've recently tried to update my BIOS on a Gigabyte GA-K8NXP-9, using
the @BIOS-tool (ver. 1.20) and the latest (ver. F9) BIOS file offered on
their website.
After restart, the MB fails to boot (lots of beeping and complaining)
finally reverting to the secondary BIOS, which of course is...
