Conexant Modem by
A & M
R i c k has a great point. I have a surge protector that protects my phone
line too. It blew out once, just the phone line protector. Saved my modem.
Odd though, surge protectors cost more than many modems. My surge protector
is a "NewPoint", and came with a lifetime guarantee. Shipped it back...

I am looking to get a new lcd monitor to replace a crt display. I am
looking at the 19 in monitors, what is difference between the two (193

Mobo Upgrade of Dell 4550 by
A.A.
Hi there
I have been considering the idea to upgrade to a better
motherboard, since the original that came with my, Pentium based Dell
4550 ,has a limitation of only two DIMM slots for memory ,and more
importantly -supports only up to 1 gig of ram.
Since the price of the memory modules ...

What drives work in a Latitude external drive case? by
A.E. Eckberg
I have a Latitude C840 that I recently bought used. I also have a variety
of "drive modules" that fit the modular bay, including a floppy, CDRW, zip,
and several HDDs. I originally got these for use with an Inspiron 8000, but
expect them to function with the Latitude C840. I have also seen...

This seems to be a completely different form factor system than any other

At the moment I have 2 x 256 Rdram 1066 mhz (cannot for the life of me find

[Dimension 8250] noise returned by
A.Translator
A while ago I posted to this group with a question about my very noisy
Dimension 8250. I thought I'd traced the noise to the Power Supply, so I
put a new one in.
Things seemed fine for a while, but after a month or so the leave blower
sound is back (the leave blower was mentioned in another...

rdram = rimm or not? by
A.Translator
I am having a hell of problem finding retailers that sell the 2 x 256mb
rdram pc1600 non-ecc that I need to upgrade my Dell dimension 8250.
I am in Europe (the Netherlands), and the Dutch Dell-site tells me they
haven't got the ram in store.
Everywhere else I can get 2 x 512 mb, but that is too...

Dell keyboard connected to non-Dell pc by
A.Translator
Just over two years ago, when I bought my Dell Dimension 8250, I ordered
the simplest keyboard on offer. It has served me fine, in fact, I am so
happy with it that I did not order a keyboard with my new (non-Dell) pc.
The keyboard seems to work fine, but I have one question: when Windows
has shut...

last questions rdram for 8250 by
A.Translator
Yesterday I got a lot of good information from this group about the extra
memory I want to add to my Dell Dimension 8250.
I learnt it should be non-ECC RAM and 16-bit, 184 pin modules, 1066mhz.
I am in Europe and tried there first. Kingston has a kit called
KTD-DM8250/512, which they say is what I...

Comments on Inspiron 1100? by
aa
Hi,
Does anyone have comments on the Inspiron 1100?
I've heard the fan is noisy with the Celeron. If I were to upgrade the
processor to a Pentium 4, would the fan come on less frequently?
Also, what are the native screen resolutions for the various Dell laptop
display types (e.g., XGA, etc)?
