3d support for intel 915pm express chipset by [email protected]
Hello. I am the proud owner of an Acer Aspire 9400, which uses the intel 915 express chipset. I am running fedora core 5 and am attempting to use xgl. However, when I run xgl the graphics run VERY slowly. Everything tries to run and work, but does at such speeds that it's not very usable. I am...

3rd Generation i7 and Six Cores by W[_3_]
I was going through the list of i7 processors on Intel's site, and it looks like for the latest 3rd Generation I7 they do not have a six core processor. They did include six cores with the 2nd Generation i7. Is there an intent to support six cores in the 3rd Generation i7, and what is timeline...

4 gb in D915GEV mb? by The New Guy
4 x 533mhz 1gb sticks worked before but now I'm trying a different brand. I think it might have something to do with the timings. (They are all the same series.) I put one stick in, and set the ram timing for the indicated numbers listed below it in the bios. Then I put another stick in and...

4.0Ghz P4 delayed by Yousuf Khan
Actually this sort of took me by surprise, I wasn't even aware that they were expecting 4.0Ghz P4's so soon. I guess I was assuming that with all of the Prescott problems that they were just busy sorting those out before they try for any speed records. I guess that's exactly what...

45nm Penryn (Core2Quad) hit by erratum too by Yousuf Khan
I couldn't believe my eyes, but the articles seem almost identical, you just substitute Intel for AMD, Penryn for Phenom, etc. And you get the same reaction and effect. 45nm Core 2 Quad launch delayed due to erratum? - The Tech Report http://www.techreport.com/discussions.x/13756 45nm Core 2...

486 on the Hubble by Bill Davidsen
I see that the Hubble uses the mighty i80486 for a CPU, I wonder if this was some mil spec, rad hard, super gee-whiz version or the standard CPU. Powered off for 19 years and came up, I'm impressed. -- Bill Davidsen He was a full-time professional cat, not some moonlighting ferret or weasel....

4Ghz by 2004? by Yousuf Khan
Intel is predicting that it will be at 4Ghz by the end of 2004, with the introduction of the 90nm Prescott processor. Of course there's word that the initial versions of Prescott are already using well over 100W of energy, near the 3Ghz mark, one can only imagine how much a 4Ghz will take....

50% price cuts for AMD X2's by bbbl67
The price war is getting underway now, it's great to be a PC consumer again, if not a shareholder in these companies. It's in response to Intel's imminent release of the Core 2 architecture. "AMD Strikes Back: 50% price cut to dual core" http://www.hkepc.com/bbs/itnews.php?tid=613657

53-pin Mini Card edge connector for Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG ?? by Tim C.
Are there typos on all of Intel's documentation, or does the PRO/Wireless 3945ABG card use a proprietary connector? Everything I read on Intel's site says it uses a 53 Pin PCI Express Mini-Card connector, but all of the PCI Express Mini-Card connectors I can find are 52 pin (2 rows of 26) Where's...
