quest of p55 whitepaper or info to induce 3x multiplier by
Joe
I've recently dug up an old socket 7 mobo and a late production p120. The
chip does 2x75mhz and would like to try 3x but unforunately the mobo isn't
working properly. I would like to find out which pin to pull up/down on
the chip itself so i can see if 3x75 will work.
I've scoured the net and...

with a 2.5ghz Celeron with this on the die: 2.5GHZ/128/400

question about FSB speed vs RAM speed by
Eric
Take a 915p chipset for example w 800mhz FSB
Is there any benefit to using DDR2-533 over DDR2-400
if you install ram in both channels?
I'm building a system and from my point of view it
seems you'd need a 1066 FSB in order to get any benefit
from DDR2-533 ram.
Thanks
Eric

Question on Hyperthreading ( developer's question) by
Tetedeiench
Hi all !
I was writing a program which is testing the CPU stability. I was
developing it way before hyperthreading was introduced.
And now that hyperthreading is there and my testing program is almost
done, I encounter a problem.
I cannot spawn two threads at the same time running my test. My...

Question on P4 2.8GHz CPU - A, B, C or E grade? by
SY Teo
Hi,
Can anyone guide me to find information on the meaning behind these
alphabets, 2.8A, 2.8B, 2.8C and 2.8E? I could not find it in the Intel web
site.
If 'E' represents the latest/ bug fixed version and 1000KB cache, why is
2.8C (512KB cache) CPU be the most expensive among all in the...

Question on Quickpath by
W[_3_]
I noticed that some of the newer Intel i7 processors like 990X and some of
the newer Xeon like E5690 use a separate memory bus from the I/O bus, and
the memory business is run at extremely high speeds. Does support for
this new memory bus technology require a special motherboard?

Question regarding processor speed by
Horned Frog
I bought an Alienware in July 2002 with the 2.26 Ghz Intel D850EMV2 chipset.
Can any gamers tell me if there is an appreciable increase in performance
with the 3.2 Ghz? Obviously, there is some. But I am curious if it would
be worthwhile to upgrade anytime soon. I'm going to move to a 9800...

QUESTION: Looking for speed ranges for older CPUs by
Doug Whittier
Hi, all.
I'm trying to run a report indicating which of our older machines are
running Pentium IIs and which run Pentium IIIs.
The report I have is from SMS, and all I can see is the current clock
speed. I don't see any SMS metrics about CPU class.
Is there some table published somewhere, which...

Questions on multi cored intel processors. by
YOURSELF
I'm looking to build a new gaming system. My thoughts are that I'm interested in investing in a system that will last me as many years as possible. I'm looking to upgrade from a P4 3.0 GHz processor.
Originally, I was interested in a 2.66 GHz quad core extreme. Everything pointed to more = better....

Quick upgrade question by
Whinging Courier
Hello,
My motherboard supports intel chips up to 999MHz.
Does this mean I can only put 999MHz and lower or can I get away with
putting a 1Ghz chip in?
Also, generally speaking, would a Celeron running at 900MHz be faster
than a P111 running at 866MHz?

Quietest fan for 2.8/800 for under $30? by
Jim
I'd like to get a VERY quiet fan for a P4 2.8Ghz /800MHz CPU. I'm not
looking for anything water cooled or using the peltier method since I'm
trying to keep the price down to $30. Thermaltake has some really quiet
ones for the AMD64 but nothing like them as far as I can see for the P4.
There...
