Advice Please; How to "Quarantine" Hard Drives by
Darren Harris
Is it really possible to "Quarantine" three system hard drives from a
single hard drive when that hard drive is used for internet related
purposes?(The idea is to keep them from from viruses, hacking, ect.).
Thanks a lot.

Windows ME or 2000 instead of XP by
James
Setup a my old computer for a friend (Intel PII-450, 128ram) and installed
win xp, but am not happy with it as it seems too slow (I have used a friends
celeron/128mb which is faster!)
I therefore think that running win ME or 2000 is the best option but am not
sure which one to go for. Can anyone...

Dust filled computer by
Rob
Opened up a friends computer and it is very badly covered in dust. Managed
to get most out, but the video and audio cards are very dirty - the printed
circuit board side is covered in dust - would it be safe to remove them and
then use a household vacuum cleaner to clean the dirt off.
Thanks

Need New PC recommendations/info by
Dan
I'm looking for a PC w/at least a 3.4Mhz processor, 1
Gig RAM, 128 Meg Vid. RAM and 80 gig hard drive. A 2nd 10k RPM 80 gig
HD would be nice but I think it'd be cheaper to by that on aftermarket
& install it. I'd also want a 17 or 18" LCD. I'm looking to spend
$1400ish.
The machine will be used...

Any Motherboards with two UDMA 133 or SATA slots by
Sam
Ok, so I have decided I NEED to get a new PC. My Promise controller is
not compatible with my ECS PVM4MM2 V5.0 MB (if someone knows a card that
is, that would be good).
I am leaning toward an Intel Based chipset either Asus, Abit or ? with
several PCI slots. Right now, I am looking for a MB...

Childproof a PC? by
Spudy
Hello:
We have a 15 year old son who we want to limit his computer activity
after school, while he's home alone -- before we get home from work.
We used to be able to just use a key to lock the keyboard with old 386
and 486 machines. But they don't make this like that anymore. Now we
have two an...

Anybody use Linux? For old hardware, which distro? by
RayLopez99
Thinking of using on an old 1998 laptop PC that presently has a
Pentium II, with a built in generic Dell modem, USB mouse, 512k RAM
(!), DVD/CD, running Windows XP fine now (very slow), some distro of
Linux.
In another thread I got into a debate about what's the best distro for
a simple new Acer...

To floppy or not to floppy? by
Jeff
....almost have my 1st full machine finished. ...trying to decide on whether to put in a floppy drive. I can easily foresee needing
the bay that a floppy would occupy for a harddrive instead (removable tray, etc.). From what I gather, the only likely thing that I
would need a floppy for would be to...
