My child was given a HP desktop which has Pentium dual core 2.5 GHz and 800
MHz FSB. According to HP support pages, it can be upgraded to a Core 2 with
1066 MHz FSB. They appear to make a similar model which has the Core 2 and
slightly bigger disk, but same mainboard. The mainboard is made by MSI,...

Graphics card covers a PCIEX8_1 motherboard slot. by
Peter Jason
The motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD7 and the Graphics
card is a Gigabyte GV-N480UD-15I/.
On assembly of the graphics card into the recommended
PCIEX16_1 motherboard slot, the rather thick graphics card
completely covers the empty PCIEX8_1 slot beneath.
Is there a way out of this? Can...

I am thinking of replacing my current motherboard, CPU, RAM, etc. to an
Intel i7 950 CPU, its motherboard, and new RAM. I am still going to use
my old, updated Windows XP Pro. SP3 (don't need 64-bit and newer Windows

Upgrading my current computer system parts: AMD or Intel? by
Ant[_3_]
Hello.
I am planning to upgrade my computers again since I need to replace my
very old single core Athlon 64 3200 Debian/Linux system (too slow to do
much!) with my current Intel quad-core Q8200 system.
I am trying to figure out if I should get Intel or AMD for my next
upgrade for my old...

How much force is needed to lock the i7-970 CPU in place? by
Peter Jason
I have a Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD7 motherboard and I have just
inserted the i7-970 CPU, carefully following the
instructions outlined in the motherboard and the Intel CPU's
handbooks.
The procedure is simple enough given that the CPU fits into
its place only one way, but the force required to lock...

wanted to find one that uses a minimum amount of energy. I stumbled on the

Asus has a new "Sabretooth" mobo on sale at the moment, for the intel
920-930-950-980 CPUs. The features I like at the Mil Spec parts, USB3 and SATA
6Gb. I can swing the $$ for the 980, but it makes a nice system with a 950.
